Friends,

I owned DAK.IN through direct registration when .IN was made public on 16th Feb 2005.

In the next few days, I sold it for Rs. 20,000/- [Around 465.00$]

Now, I believe, it was a hurried decision D-: and I could have got much more on that, if only I would have held it on. What do you say friends. I just want your honest opinion :) , the deal is already closed.

I am mentioning this is for the purpose of sharing this information about .INs with you. Plus, it can give me some valuable feedback on selling my several other nice .INs booked on 16th Feb, 2005 :)

Please comment :)

Can you mention who bought the domain, then it would be easy to reply about your decision

Yeah, A person from Mumbai, Mr Piyush bought it. He bought it 'cause it was his family name. But, I believe it could have fetched me more if I had waited and / or developed it, say into a mail / related service (dak means mail in Hindi).

Yeah i know dak means mail in India but it would take more than $465 to develop it into a mail site and to popularise it

True, that is!
So, what if I'd have held on to it....

Maybe a bit more or less
I'd say you made a right decision

I see that it was a right decision there, a nice value for this 3 letters .In, good luck in future sales.

If you're looking at the short term, I think you made the right decision. It will go up in a few years, but that was a good offer for right now IMHO.

Hey,

Well since IN names are not so popular at the moment I would say you sold it for quite a good price. congrats.

Dak means mail in which spoken Indian language? Bengali, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujerati or Malayalam?

If the site wasn't parked anywhere getting traffic/revenue than you got yourself a really good deal.

Dak means mail in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, etc. and the each one of India's 1 billion individuals know it by this name since the Postal Department itself is known by this name!

Yes, Funsunmedia, the site wasn't parked anywhere and I was approached on phone :)

Keep that muslim domain and don't sell it for below $10k. It will come with time. Many religion freaks in India :D
