I'll share daily lists of valuable dropped domains here on NamePros based on my everyday work and research for HumbleWorth, a free domain value estimator I'm building.

Sadly, someone has written a script or bot to scoop up the highest-valued names immediately after they are posted on your website. It doesn't matter how fast I move, they're gone in 60 seconds or less. A shame, really.

HAHA! Classic. We can switch the real gems over to a new secret "Namepros only" URL and just post a constantly updating list of junk to the current URL for a few days.

Maybe this is a dumb idea... is it possible to present the domain names as images instead of text strings? I.e. an image that says scubacruises.com instead of having it spelled out in text characters? Then the scraper won't have anything to scrape...

This is one possible solution. A very good one. However, depending on how determined the scraper is (ie, how much money they're making selling the domains), they could use some sort of OCR.

I agree, as a programmer it would be harder to scrape text from an image, especially if you don’t use alt text/title, etc.

Also how about Captcha access to view the page?

My temporary solution is to update the gems hourly on HumbleWorth (I'll still only post daily here). So I suppose we'll call this the hourly dropped gems for the next while. Every hour it'll remove the taken domains and replace them with domains lower down on the list. The best names will always show up just after the drop, but there'll always be a healthy list. Maybe this will land up being a better approach in the long run.

Although thinking about it for a second... the scraper probably has their bot set to scrape "when this page updates"... So it will probably not stop them, they'll just do their bot thang every hour.

Hi Greg, I came across your site last month and it has been a very useful tool to me as a new domainer. However, I observe a few 'wrong' evaluations on some domain names. See example below:

Domain Name	Auction	Marketplace
Promring.com	$8,600	$40,784
Promrings.com	$3,590	$18,221
promisering.com	$0	$154
Promiserings.com	$0	$40

Here is how I came I came to the conclusion that HumbleWorth's evaluation was wrong:

Promring has a godaddy Estimated Value of $1,588​

This domain dropped and was re-registered few days ago.

Promrings has a godaddy Estimated Value of $1,396​

This domain also dropped and has not been registered as at this time.

Promisering has a godaddy Estimated Value of $8,524​

This domain was registered in 2001 and is currently on sale at Venture-dot-com

Promiserings has a godaddy Estimated Value of $15,600​

This domain was registered in 2000 and the website is a thriving site.


I believe HumleWorth algorithms erroneously swapped it estimated values of Promisering and Promiserings for Promring and Promrings respectively.

I have noticed this mistake with some other domains. I am writing this to help you in your effort to improve HumbleWorth's algorithms because the website has been very useful to me since last month I started using it.

The new model finished training much earlier than expected (thanks to ever-faster cloud GPUs). This has resulted in significant changes to the dropped gems, so please let me know what you think. If you notice a drop in quality, I'll revisit the new model. Let's give it a few days first, though.

I like the list but most of the domains has more spam score . It would be great if you curate the list of domains with less spam score. I appreciate your efforts. Thanks
