Hi all.

Just been awarded the 5 year forum membership trophy. I've been away from domaining doing other projects.

At the same time, I got an offer on DAN for a parked domain name which has a sale lander at the top.

He offered $1k but immediately accepted my $3500 counter offer.

DAN sends me I will be receiving $2441.25

Does anybody still use this platform? As soon as I heard they were going to be bought by godaddy, I knew this would happen.

That was the entire point of DAN (undeveloped.com then). They just provide a lander for a low commission.
They had jack all to do with this sale, yet happily took 30% commission. Bodis brought the lead here.

So what's going on lately? Are there any new options now? Any site which follows the philosophy of what DAN used to be? Anything not GD related? Maybe self hosting is the way to go nowadays?

Thanks all, I am glad for my 5 years on this forum though.
Point to DaaZ landers and you can pay just 5% commission for BIN sales.

e.g: You can still park your domain names with what ever parking site you like ( Bodis or parklogic or parkingcrew ..etc).

Just point the lander to re-direct to DaaZ.com for sale BIN page - Just pay 5% commission.

DaaZ offers a lot of themes.

few examples of landing pages are NDNV.com , AndhraPradesh.com

Can I do that, though? If I recall correctly, you could only choose from a list of supported sites and not just throw any link you want.

You can add links in most of the parking websites. A lot of our customers are already using that.

https://daaz.com/buy/make/offer/domains/{domain_name}

If you pass that way it works. Please chat with the respective parking websites like bodis.com or parkingcrew.com per example. At least I am aware a lot of our customers are using their services.

P.s: We have no affiliation with any registrar or parking websites. I am just sharing you can earn more money by just following this simple workaround.

Unfortunately, these pages give TLS warnings.
At least thats news to me. We will check on that, please type directly into the browser and let me know if you are still seeing the TLS warnings.

e.g NDNV.com

You have to test with https://domain not http://domain.

Then you see that there's no certificate present for the domains in your example.

$ openssl s_client -servername NDNV.com -connect 18.130.191.149:443 < /dev/null | openssl x509 -text

Validity
Not Before: Sep 6 00:00:00 2020 GMT
Not After : Oct 8 00:00:00 2021 GMT

X509v3 Subject Alternative Name:
DNS:*.daaz.com, DNS:daaz.com

I will report this to our engineering team to look into that and will revert to you with in 24 hours time.

So, as @Future Sensors is astutely pointing out, some of the higher fees at DAN may reflect the ability to reach a wider audience. Granted, we'll see if Daaz, along with other marketplaces that have this TLS limitation, rise to occasion and provide comparable landers.

Thank you, @Future Sensors, for keeping the forum members informed and wiser about such technical matters. Your insights are extremely helpful, time and time again.

Having secure connections, with TLS certificates up front, makes sense. Likewise, in comparing landers and commissions, it's useful to check to see which are being blocked by UBlock origin and comparable extensions.

My sympathies, though, to the opening poster, getting the 30% in the combined "VAT and commissions" shock. Hopefully DAN can provide more upfront information, so the unsuspecting seller doesn't get shocked by the final payout.

Thanks for pointing out that the post may have appeared a bit off-topic.

However, my impression was that Daaz was responding to the opening poster's concern about a high commission combined with the VAT in this case. This marketplace was trying to point out that they are an alternative at a much lower rate.

However, questions were raised by others, including myself just yesterday researching the security equivalency of the different landers. After all, a high commission may be worthwhile if the landers are actually being seen, due to such issues as solid security certificates. Dan appears to do a good job with this. Daaz may have some issues there that need to be addressed.

So, your point is well taken, but I think they are trying to be helpful. Maybe it would be better to avoid the comparisons with other, more maligned individuals ( at least on this Easter Sunday, please).

I have responded to the OP only to say there are alternative solutions and we can help the domainer to earn more money from their sale.

When the members asked further questions in response , its minimum courtesy to respond back and the rest of the discussion is part of it.

Apologies if you still considering this as a SPAM , its never the intention.

Still waiting to hear back about the TLS certificate and secure webpage issue? Any insights from your engineers?

Requesting your example domain NDNV.com directly on https still gives TLS warnings.

On your side, you're still presenting a (default) TLS certificate for *.daaz.com and daaz.com, while the requested domain name NDNV.com is not included in that certificate. There's a mismatch, and that's why the browser is complaining with TLS errors and warnings.

Our team still not resolved this issue, we are not getting the certificates for individual names ( e.g: via lets encrypt) . We are trying to solve this in few other ways.

Majority of the traffic is http and re-direction is working as expected.. but still the https part to be solved to make it much more efficient.

This issue has been sorted out, sorry for the delay in reporting this back to you. We are offering SSL cert for every domain name, so SSL landers to work ideally. if there is any issue , feel free to report back. when a new name added, it can take 48 to 72 hours for https protocol to work. We are working to optimise that timeline.
