Curious if this is normal behavior or not.
Been a Flippa member for a while had got selling and buying experiences.
My latest sale is getting weird though.
Buyer is long term member, good feedback.
He never sent a question before bidding, but based on history I accepted his bid.
After winning he starts demanding I sign contract. No biggie, I ask him to sign and send it, but never receive it.
Then there were some issues with payment, but he successfully sent it to Escrow.com
But now he keeps demanding my personal info and also wants to CHANGE the wording on the flippa sales agreement ..
He also keeps telling me we don't have a contract because he doesn't know who I am/ I told him he has my first name, phone number and business name. (we're both in America, but he's foreign)
He then demands to know where my biz iz incorporated.
And when I offer to push the domain to another account (I told him he can create it or I can for him) on same registrar, he insists we must change it to his.
Anyway, this is starting to feel weird.
How do I convey to this person that we're already under contract and that he needs to back off ?
Is this normal behavior from a customer ?
Thanks all.

That is very unusual. I do not think buyer really wanted the name, that is why trying everything. As per escrow terms, you would either get the money or domain - that is what escrow is about.

Yeah, I've been casually selling domains forever and this is only the 2nd weird experience in many years. [But then again Im newish to Flppa's platform add userbase]
Definitely the craziest experience. So lunatic buyer fessed up to being in control of the domain. He still wants to transfer it away. I took a video of this whole interaction and sent it to Escrow.com. They now are demanding he return it. Such lunancy. Pretty absurd at this point. So either I will get it back or the money released.

I use escrow.com all the time. I have 2 domains in escrow.com as we speak. When you transfer a domain you have no control of the account it is going to. Escrow.com know that. They have systems in place to handle the fact that you have no control over the registrant at the new registrar. Usually this is starting and ending the inspection period and paying you. If they don't hear a squeak out of the buyer all is well.

You didn't specifically ask me about Flippa.com. But I have never used Flippa.com, and don't see what control they have of Escrow.com paying you or not.

I asked you if they had changed the password because this shows their intent. If he is refusing to return it, then that implies he has control of the domain. The customer can scream all they want. Escrow.com will pay you. End of story. Move on. Unless I missed something?

On Flippa, part of their TOS is that buyers ask all questions or arrange all demands before placing bids.
The buyer changed the password and security questions on the domain registrar days ago.
Escrow.com told me they couldn't confirm this.
For the last couple of days buyer has in fact told Escrow.com that he is keeping the domain and that he is moving it another registrar.
I have turned from feeling warmly about Escrow.com to being quite annoyed.
They still show the transaction as rejected, which means money won't be paid out for another week. (If buyer rejects transaction and doesn't return domain/merch within 10 days, escrow releases payment.)
Will be using SEDO and Armour Payments after this craziness.

If they've told Escrow they are going to keep the domain. You will get paid. SEDO can be quite slow at times also. I would expect Armour to have same policies as Escrow. Personally, I don't think you can judge the performance with 1 bad apple buyer, if you don't have similar problem at competing escrow services. To see how they perform, under similar circumstances. I think the biggest problem you had was pushing the domain to another account, rather than transferring it to their registrar. But if they intend to behave like a bad apple, there isn't much you can do about it. One way or another. Anyway. Pleased to see you have secured the payment, at least.

So buyer is still playing games. He is blaming the losing registrar for the delay. I spoke to them again and they stated he is lying to me eesh.

Once a bad buyer. Always a bad buyer. He should be grateful this is not December, when every change of ownership will be like GoDaddy. Stuck for 60 days.

Why hasn't escrow released the funds if the inspection period has lapsed.

If domain is not returned in X many days, the funds should be released.

I would contact Flippa support so they are made aware of the situation.

Inspection period was started on Monday by Escrow. Buyer rejected the transaction.

Domain still not transferred. He keeps blaming losing registrar. Spoke twice to losing registrar and gaining registrar. They were all helpful, confirmed he is lying. He entered authorization code but never approved transfer in the email from the gaining registrar.

I'm kinda surprised that the losing registrar were speaking to you and providing you with so much info about another persons account. It's not the kind of registrar I'd want to keep my domains at.
