As we all know this happens at times.. but when its from a domainer who has many domains this is really annoying.
I made a wire transfer. Contract is binding according to Godaddy rep.

We are trying to build a better name for this industry. A deal is a deal. A contract is a contract.
Cancelling a contract is just bad business ethics and why domain investors at times have such a bad name.

The guy should really think about it since he uses godaddy for his names. He could get banned from there.
Isnt reputation an important thing? I am debating if to blow the whistle on him...

Sometimes domains are listed in the Godaddy/Afternic system with BINs from previous sellers. The current owner couldn't be aware of it! There are some threads here on namepros about it or maybe ask @Kuffy , he can explain from his own experience and send you a link to his thread.

Yup.... one of my domains is listed for sale at a company and I am the new owner. The previous domainer I bought it from did not remove the listing. So mistakes like that can happen but I've also had cases were the seller backed out. Sucks when it happens but I look at everything as an experience.

@1Darko- that is not the case..I reached out to the seller. He admitted that he cancelled it, He says he made a mistake in pricing the name...

If godaddy would ban his account he would back off since he has many domains there. It wouldnt be worth it for him to lose their platform. He also uses Sedo apparently too.
The truth is, that if we want this to change he should be banned on all platforms -saying that they wont accept this business conduct.

If a sellers who breaks contracts will know that he will be banned from all platforms it would minimize these situations.

In addition, if escrow.com would stand up to him since he uses them as his explicit Escrow and in this case were money was transferred to them - he would keep to his deal..
If he know he had a lot to lose-he would back off..

I see - that's another story. But is the price difference so big - maybe both of you could reach an agreement anyway?

I would say post the person's name, you can't get a transparent industry when the names of the wrong are hidden and only shared in select circles.

1Drako-the price difference is big. Regardless, it just not the way to conduct business! It doesnt even matter the price though this was high $x,xxx. and he wanted more.

There are quite a few points that one should reflect on concerning this GoDaddy/Sedo/Afternic BIN listings.

Yes, I've got several names listed there without my permission, and it will not be possible for them to deliver whatever they say. Now these are the things you should consider.
  • I picked up my names from the drop lists or expired lists. This means that those venues failed to sell the names - I would have thought that they would want to bury their failures, not flaunt them in domainers faces to provide posting fodder.
  • Some of the names triggered new listing alerts after I had acquired them, this means the comanies are supporting front-running for some of their accounts.
  • One of my names had the BIN increased after I increased my BIN price in the Name Silo market place. This means that the listing was being managed actively by the fraudulent submitter, and that Afternic had not made any ownership checks.
  • If you are considering purchasing a name on one of these market places, you shoud verify that the name is for sale, and that it is available through the market place. This can be done by contacting the registered owner. You should also ask if the owner has the name listed at a lower price in another market place.

Get your money back... That is most important thing at the moment.

@Kuffy- this was not the case.. the seller admits he put in the price and that godaddy didnt change or do anything.. He just decided not to keep to his contract.

u do not need to report the seller to gd for him to be banned if he does not sell.
it will be automatic. however, it is possible they allow one strike. Joe will confirm.

That's why I like the Name Silo system. It takes the option away from the seller once a BIN price has been paid. No need to spend extra on Escrow either.

I bet it really depends on the volume of business he brings to their market place. :)

Canceling a contract without justifiable merit is just plain deceptive and deliberate "BAD BUSINESS" dealing....:cautious:
