I have just set up a small business in event management, and am going to start building up my website.

What sort of details do you think people might want to know? Is it better to have a lot of graphics, and flashy animations, or just a simple basic HTML site with the facts?

I don't want people to be frustrated with load times.

I must say I agree with you which is why I asked the question.

I get annoyed with web sites that have intro pages and fancy graphics. I usually just want to know about the business...

Apparently though, some people like the fancy stuff..

It depends, what kind of business do you have? If you have a business like construction or an architect firm, then pictures and flash could be great. Splash screens demonstrating your work would be awesome because then the potential client could see what you do, without getting to personal.

So this is where I ask the question, what does your company do?
