Creating a Business Directory

I have recently purchased a geo .info that I am going to develop into a local business directory.

I've never built nor marketed a business directory before. I'm well familiar with SEO, but are there any business directory-specific SEO methods? Any other business directory marketing tips are completely welcome as well!

You should get all the local business listed first. and then empower your BD with SEO.

Then you have two option one premium listing which will be paid and second one is the advertisement or running a google adsense campaign or you can have both.

tbh i prefer business directories which do not have any ads on it.

I recommend that you had better integrate an article directory feature with your business directory.In this way,you are going to get more traffic from search engines because of constant content.Plus your clients will have another opportunity to build some backlinks for their websites if any.

I personally use Google Maps or Super Pages for the listing itself. Just search for the business and the city you want and just copy paste. It's not the fastest, but it's the only way I've done it so far.
