This is an interesting example. As an end-user, i would be perfectly happy with "DallasCowboys". Yes, it's longer. But it's more specifically descriptive. Not like you want to monopolize all the cowboys in America. Could have been much cheaper than the 275 grand bid for "Cowboys".

And for an end-user business, I really can't see any use for a website called "cowboys.com", other than a gay dating site. So i'm not surprised IT IS a gay dating site.

I'm sorry. But "cowboys" are so gay (emphasis on quotation marks). You can set-up an e-shop selling rodeo gear and stuffs, why not. But it's still gay. And if no mainstream merchandise shop is able to get that domain, the most expected thing for that domain, is become a gay site. And surely, that's what the domain owners had in mind as well.

Yeah, some UDRP decisions do seem a little ridiculous, but come on. The term "cowboys" has been around for a very long time (at least 200 years). As long as that site does not infringe on the Dallas Cowboys trademark, which surely pertains only to football, they should be fine.

The second they start referring to football, they will be in trouble. But remember, the Dallas Cowboys aren't the only football team with "cowboys" as their nickname. There are several college teams as well.
