Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

Interesting results from High mask use states vs Low mask use states.

States ranked by COVID-19 test positivity rates: Dec. 24

Data points were last updated Dec. 24. Data for positivity rates and tests are seven-day moving averages. New cases are daily counts as reported by state and the District of Columbia. The information cited is from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. States are arranged in descending order of test positivity rates.

Masks block 99.9% of large Covid-linked droplets: Study

PARIS (AFP) - Face masks reduce the risk of spreading large Covid-linked droplets when speaking or coughing by up to 99.9 per cent, according to a lab experiment with mechanical mannequins and human subjects, researchers said on Wednesday (Dec 23).

A woman standing 2m from a coughing man without a mask will be exposed to 10,000 times more such droplets than if he were wearing one, even if he is only 50cm away, they reported in the journal Royal Society Open Science.

"There is no more doubt whatsoever that face masks can dramatically reduce the dispersion of potentially virus-laden droplets," senior author Ignazio Maria Viola, an expert in applied fluid dynamics at the University of Edinburgh's School of Engineering, told AFP.

All U.K. air travelers to U.S. need negative Covid tests as mutant virus emerges, CDC says

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cdc-says-all-u-k-air-travelers-u-s-need-n1252352

"The U.S. will require all air passengers arriving from the United Kingdom to test negative for Covid-19 before their departure after the identification in the U.K. of new coronavirus variants."

"The public health authorities in the United Kingdom recently announced the discovery of a new variant of SARS-CoV-2," the CDC said in a statement. "Preliminary analysis in the U.K. suggests that this new variant may be up to 70 percent more transmissible than previously circulating variants."

"Dozens of countries — including Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Iran and Colombia — suspended flights from the U.K. earlier this week, reflecting worldwide concern about virus mutations that may be more contagious than other variants."

MODERNA COVID-19 VACCINE CAUSES SWELLING AND INFLAMMATION IN PATIENTS WHO HAVE COSMETIC FACIAL FILLERS
"Your immune system which causes inflammation is revved up when you get a vaccine, that's how it's supposed to work. So it makes sense that you would see an immune response in certain areas where they see some substance that is not a naturally occurring substance in your body" says Chi.

"Chi also says to not let this stop you from getting the vaccine when your turn comes up and that all the derma fillers reactions were easily treated by medical personnel."

You took the bait.

You think I trust the MSM?:ROFL:

Our immune systems do just fine without all the aborted fetal tissue, aluminum, mercury, etc. inside of it...

If you go get your cv vax series, be sure to have an EpiPen nearby! (IMHO)

UK scientists trial drug to prevent infection that leads to Covid

British scientists are trialling a new drug that could prevent someone who has been exposed to coronavirus from going on to develop the disease Covid-19, which experts say could save many lives.

The antibody therapy would confer instant immunity against the disease and could be given as an emergency treatment to hospital inpatients and care home residents to help contain outbreaks.

People living in households where someone has caught Covid could be injected with the drug to ensure they do not become infected too. It could also be given to university students, among whom the virus has spread rapidly because they live, study and socialise together.

I guess that's the same as the antibodies cocktail that Trump already received when he got infected. Two companies, Regeneron and Eli Lilly already have this "antibodies cocktail" to be given to people early infected by covid-19 on its early stages, especially to older people and other high risk people.

F.D.A. Grants Emergency Authorization of Antibody Treatment Given to Trump

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/21/health/regeneron-covid-antibodies-trump.html

"The treatment, made by the biotech company Regeneron, is a cocktail of two powerful antibodies that have shown promise for people who get it early in the course of the disease."

"The treatment, made by the biotech company Regeneron, is a cocktail of two powerful antibodies that have shown promise in early studies at keeping the infection in check, reducing medical visits in patients who get the drug early in the course of their disease. A similar treatment, made by Eli Lilly, was given emergency approval earlier this month."

It does sound similar to the Regeneron drug -- I'm surprised the Guardian article didn't reference that.

COVID-19 severity affected by proportion of antibodies targeting crucial viral protein, study finds

COVID-19 antibodies preferentially target a different part of the virus in mild cases of COVID-19 than they do in severe cases, and wane significantly within several months of infection, according to a new study by researchers at Stanford Medicine.

The findings identify new links between the course of the disease and a patient’s immune response. They also raise concerns about whether people can be re-infected, whether antibody tests to detect prior infection may underestimate the breadth of the pandemic and whether vaccinations may need to be repeated at regular intervals to maintain a protective immune response.

The only hoax here is the one of the misinformation spreaders, conspiracy theorists and science-deniers. Damn shame what ignorance does on people.

Nurse who fainted after COVID-19 vaccine has an underlying health condition

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/...covid-19-vaccine-made-nurse-faint/3958352001/

"Tiffany Dover explained that she has an underlying health condition that causes her to faint when she experiences pain.

"I had a syncopal episode. I have a history of having an overactive vagal response, and so with that if I have pain from anything — hangnail or if I stub my toe — I can just pass out," Dover told WRCB.

In another clip, she said she has "passed out probably six times in the past six weeks."

"It's common for me," she added.

LA's Covid 'tsunami': inside the new center of America's raging pandemic

Los Angeles is becoming the center of America’s out-of-control coronavirus pandemic in these final days before the new year, with officials warning that a meteoric rise in infections is crushing the healthcare system in one of the country’s largest metropolitan regions.

LA county has faced an onslaught of terrifying Covid developments in recent days, including a surge in deaths, dire shortages of hospital resources, and fears that doctors will have to make agonizing choices to ration care.
