Depends on the country, big/small/turistic

I would say that for just about any country, no matter the size, you could get atleast mid-high $XX.

as said before, it varies far too much depending on the country, to put a general value on them.

It'a only a theoratical exercise since all country names in .info are reserved by the registry for each country's governmental use and as such would not be bought and sold in the domain aftermarket. Many countries are actually using them; e.g. www.Germany.info www.Spain.info www.Norway.info etc etc

:hehe:
ok, you can go to any registrar and get a .info for under :$: 3 so why would

it be worth 10k :? If you are talking about .org than its a different

story...Couldnt you sell the DN to the government :?

Info would be obviously better than .org deathblade, I can tell that you are still new to the domain business. .info is easy to remember, and would be great for an australia tourists INFORMATION. See, the .info at the end means information, IE: Information On Australia and its attractions...

And it is also blatently obvious that you are newer because you made the statement "well blah blah only cost $3 to reg". If I regged the domain domain.info, it would be worth 1000x the amount of the registration. The price of the reg means very little.

They key my friend is demand and supply. Domains work in the same way as collectable items. E.g. 1000 limited edition starwars figures are released (good domains). Whilst they are being sold by the manufacturer (registrar) their price remains constant because the supply is still there. As soon as they are all gone the price goes up rapidly and collecters (domainers) can sell the items for more because there is no longer a supply. The original price therefore becomes irrelevant.
Now, this only applies to the limited edition figures (good domains) because there is an unlimited supply of the normal rubbish plastic figures (long rubbish domains) meaning that we can always reg more of them if need be, so the original price does not change.

I hope my metaphor helped to explain the workings of the price levels in the domain industry a bit better.

I tried explaining, I just can't help getting mad when some poeple come to these forums, spam nonsense that they do not know anything of just for NP$. I have seen quite a few of his posts lately, and most of them were unintelligent and obviously posted for NP$. I am not trying to flame him, it is just that I get upset when people don't even care about a community, and just the NP$. For having 200+ posts, I am suprised that he would say something like that. It also supports my theory of him posting entirely for NP$. Once again, I am in no way flaming him. Just expressing my strong opinion about his behavior.

As mentioned....it depends on the country....australia would command more than say niger...population,economy,tourism,connectivity all play a part.Try finding a country name in the top 5 most popular extensions....they don't come cheap by any means...

I also agree it depends on the country. The larger, more populous, more travel related, and higher the standard of living the more value. You can't compare Germany.info to Nepal.info on a level basis. However, I think just about any countryname.info is worth well more than reg fee.

Country names are among the BEST possible uses for the .INFO extension. Toruist destinations especially make great fits. I'm tending to agree with equity78's price range of low five figures, especially on countries like these here. Lower prices for lesser populated countries, of course.

I have to agree there. I am embarrassed for NamePros when I see posts like the one you are responding to. You can't of course register a name the caliber of these for $3. That's just an off the wall comment with no relevance to the value of a premium name.

I can tell you australia.info would cost heaps because it forwards to australia.com and australia.com does allot of tv advertiseing ;)

ahh, and australia.com does heavy tv advertiseing and namepros still beats it :P
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&range=6m&size=medium&y=r&url=australia.com#top

I think those figures are wrong. Namepros is mainly a webmaster based community so a larger % of the visitors who visit here have an alexa bar than those who visit Australia.com.

org is worth more than info still in my opinion. We just sold America.org for 20K. I'm not sure that America.info would have sold for that much.

as someone already stated, ISO country code names can not be regged by individuals.
as for value, there is no doubt in my mind that a .info country name would be MUCH more valuable than the .org, *especially* in Europe and elsewhere were info simply means INFOrmation

I still think that if you say out the domain, .info sounds better. America info, or america organization. America info would be great for people to learn about the tourist traps, er I mean attractions, of the US.
