Hello
I am showing great interest in the theoretical rise of the Private Address Code service industry.
The basic idea of a Private Address Code is that the sender of goods to an address is provided with a code instead of an address. The sender then sends the goods through a freight company with the code. The freight company has a private registry of codes and converts the code to an address and sends the goods to the receiver. The sender never knows where the receiver lives but the freight company does.
E.g. The sender gets given a code like: GoogleAustralia444
and the sender sends through a specific freight company who knows the address that GoogleAustralia444 represents and then the sender sends a letter using the address code as the address on the letter. The freight company then converts GoogleAustralia444 to the correct address and sends the letter to the receiver. The sender never knows where they sent the letter but the freight company and receiver do.
While it is still early days for the Private Address Code service industry to take off, the discussions that I have had with my friends seem to imply that they think it will take off. It is a source of debate on if people think it will take off but there is definitely clear opportunities for small freight companies and app makers to take advantage of even if the big freight companies would be slow to embrace Private Address Codes.
The question I have is in relation to Domain Privacy and if people think that there will be a time in the future where a private address code can be used instead of an address for domain name contact details and hence disrupt the cashflow for domain privacy services. Do you think Domain Name Privacy will become somewhat free in the future as the Private Address Code Service Industry takes off?
