I'm moving to a new host and I'd like to take my forum which is phpBB with me. My new host doesn't support phpBB for some reason and wants me to use vBulletin instead...is there a way I can upload my old phpBB database into the vBulletin forum and keep all the posts?

Once you have purchased vBulletin, you can download the ImpEx package from within the members area. This will enable you to convert your PhpBB forum to vBulletin.

More information here: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex

Why do you need to use VB?
And if your host supports VB, then they should be able to support phpBB.

I should be wary of this host - they may be waiting for you to install vB and use your license for their own illegal purposes.

Or they have hosted sites before that ran phpbb and got exploited.

I know for one that varhosting is pretty strict on forum software used.

denim i'd say your host hasn't a clue what thay are talking about, if your host offers php and mysql that it will support any php, mysql application, but if you do decide to use vb, phpbb and vb need to be in the same database, then install the implex with the db details, once forum db has been converted do the update counters in vb admin, maintenance section.

I've done several so if you need help doing it let me know, also if you need a new host for phpbb gimme a pm..

Best Of Luck
