Convert .AVI to .swf ???

Can Flash open movies of other formats, to make into a Flash movie?

I have an .AVI of my cat that I wanted to add effects & text to & post on the web as a Flash movie (.swf.) How is this accomplished?

I use that method

upload my video at youtube and downlaod from youtube same video as flv video
you can download your videos using a youtube downloader
also firefox has a plugin to downlaod youtube videos
Dont know if that can help you

I think it's possible to make easier. You need a converter. I use for converting my avi, mpeg etc.files to flv or swf files Video to Flash Encoder PRO

I don't know need it still or not I have found new good program for me. This is http://www.visifly.com/VisiFly/. It's such easy program because convert files step by step. I can convert my files easier than I did it earlier.
