The Drupal installer requires that you create a settings file as part of the installation process.
Copy the ./sites/default/default.settings.php file to ./sites/default/settings.php.
Change file permissions so that it is writable by the web server.

Any URLs?
Make sure that you have uploaded all files to the proper place. BTW how much time ago have you changed your DNS?

"." would be the installation location of Drupal -- this varies depending upon your setup, but typically it is /home/username/public_html/ (and then it might have a subdirectory if you installed it there, otherwise it be in the aforementioned path). From there, follow out the path and make sure the requested file is there with the right permissions (usually chmod 644, but it may need to be 666 depending on the host's setup) as well.

You are right. that could be possibly different folders to upload files depending on the provider. So you can ask the provider about that to help solve that

BTW what is CP you are using? Isn'y 2 click installer for the drupal there?

I think that is useful to redo everything. I believe once you try again you will have no single problem with that
