Confused on status of name....any insight?

Hi,

I came upon a site today that displays a godaddy parked page and along the header reads:

NOTICE: This domain name expired on 03/06/2009 and is pending renewal or deletion

This is a name I want to grab, but now I'm unsure if it's going to drop or what....

After making my backorder...I see the following on Godaddy's whois:

Created on: 06-Mar-08
Expires on: 06-Mar-09
Last Updated on: 07-Mar-08

Domaintools tells me this:

Created on: 06-Mar-08
Expires on: 06-Mar-09
Last Updated on: 07-Mar-08

BUT Moniker tells me this:

Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com

Any idea if this is going to drop (and when?)? Did it get renewed? Why the discrepancy in dates? Thank you.

if the registrar is going to hold on to the domain for a while, they can temporarily extend the expiration date.


one reason to do this is to allow the registrant some additional time to renew. a "grace period".

another reason is to auction it off.

if you have a godaddy backorder, I suggest you keep checking tdnam for the domain.
