P.O. Box will take care of address bit, but what about name? Can I use some made-up company name to register the domain for? Or does that company need to be formally registered(registering costs around $150 if I am correct)?

I'm based in US.

I think for the REGISTRANT, you are allowed to register your domain either as an Individual, or an "Organization". An organization does not need to be a "company". It could be a BOYS & GIRLS CLUB or POKER ENTHUSIASTS ASSOCIATION or whatever.

All you would need is proof that you have CONTROL over this organization, and thus, the domain name.

You're allowed to use a "role" name instead of a personal name, tons of companies use "Domain Admin" instead of a person's name.

Best to make sure by contacting the specific registry involved. I seem to recall that there are some cctld's that require a contact name even if there is a company/organization used.

That's possible for the domain name's contacts like admin and tech. For the registrant, though, it ought to be an "existing entity", lest one might be called upon to prove that for whatever reason at some point.
