Bought this name right when it came out in 2000, been a long 16 years for IDN to develop. What are your thoughts on this name, could it be a "6 figure or 7 figure" name in the near future? Appreciate any feedback?

There unfortunately hasn't been much happening with IDNs. Some stuff might happen but I'm not holding my breath anymore :). Any traffic?

Doesn't get much traffic, maybe 5 visitors a day, but not sure if Chinese firewall blocks traffic which they are know to do

Too many variables right now to say anything concrete. This is ICANN and Verisign's fault. There are also multiple ways to say 'video' in Chinese.. exact search on other versions is higher than this one.

Get a Snapnames account. of which they will force you to transfer this domain to NetworkSolutions. (sucks) $9.99 for transfer.

Then you can post it for auction thru their marketplace. kind like Namejet just that unlike Namejet Snapnames accepts IDN.com's. I think this will go high $xxxx at least. unless you want more then in that case I don't know. You could let the market decide.

I think it's "okay" don't like the whole transfer to Netsol though. bad experience overall back in the day.

not to hijack this thread but me and you are on the same boat so I figured why not mention my similar domain

    官话.com = Mandarin.com

    Mandarin Oriental Hotel?

    http://www.mandarinoriental.com/newyork/

Mandarin = Language of 1.7 billion Chinese.

官话 - a symbol instantly recognizable to 1.7 billion Chinese.

5 million + searches on Baidu.

    Your

    視頻.com ?

Gets 12,600,000 searches results on Baidu even better it gets this amount of results as the full "視頻.com".

    hope that helps.

Sounds like good names. However market trend is regular .com which we see now chip market already evolved. I don't think other types has future.

Video.com IDN Chinese, many low balls, highest might have been 5K

Wireless.com IDN Chinese, never, but I own IDN wireless.net in Chinese and that has had a few about 10 year ago for about 1K.

    Software.com IDN Chinese, none.

I was the first group to reg right when they were released in 2000, I should of started hand reg nnnn.com instead, maybe even nnn.com were available in 2000, oh well.

Time will tell, but Chinese brokers don't seem that excited about it, but a few say there might be a future someday, maybe for my great grandkids in 100 years

seriously why not post on 4.cn? at BIN? it's only I think $149 a year and unlimited domains you can list. your video.com in Chinese? I'd put this price lol

    888,888 RMB = 133,239.67 USD
    or
    8,888,888 RMB = 1,332,394.68 USD

what's thee effect of posting at this high price?

I think domainers who check out 4.cn are LAZY so they straight for the highest priced domains ASSUMING that the highest priced domains is something worth taking a look at.

It doesn't necessarily mean it will get bids or offers. as from what I've seen these high priced BIN domains gets tons of views more than the cheaper bargain basement ones.

only problem is they get no bids or offers.

but I suspect if you upgrade and turn a BIN listing into an auction after it's gotten tons of views.
I suspect the people who have been "watching" your high priced domain will maybe know it's for auction.

Imagine they have been keeping an "eye" on it maybe to see if there are any bids. The chinese I bet are very careful and they don't want to be the first one to BID. maybe they feel if they do. They might overbid..as I think most "tire kickers" and "window shoppers" chinese domainers aren't "pros" just simple people looking for a "life raft" in the bad Chinese economy right now.

So imagine a domain they have been keeping an eye on suddenly shows up for auction? Don't you think they will be curious to "check it out" then? (even more views)

and perhaps finally since it's at auction. They might bid and after that first bid. It might trigger a buying frenzy.

    Maybe?????

I think only in China can this technique of pricing a domain ridiculously high can work and not Sedo or Godaddy or Flippa.

I remember seeing once on 4.cn the domain 8888888888888888888888888888888.com and the seller put a BIN like 888,888,888,888 RMB.

Wouldn't you know it? It sold? not for asking but I'm sure probably for $100-$200 at auction.

so here's also what I think will happen.

A rich whale see's your domain for auction. and it's a great domain like your Video domain. AND he sees that it has 300-500 views on 4.cn. maybe in his mind he thinks one of those 300-500 views might make a last minute bid and grab your domain for cheap and they might miss out.

I would add in the description

"Bid Quickly. Smart cheap Chinese Domainers will wait last minute buy this great domain for the lowest price possible. This auction will soon end. Don't lose the chance to own this domain. Make your BEST OFFER now."

I compare this scenario to a private contractor bid where you don't know what the other person is willing to bid but the auction does have a countdown.

I think this is how we find sales of domains in 4.cn being very high. Impulse buy.

That's it I'm done. I wish I had a domain like yours. This is what I'd do.

EDIT. oh by the way. I'm no expert. lol

I don't get why these don't do well.

In China, how do people typically type in domains? Using Latin letters or Chinese characters?

It's all about switching keywords from Western to Chinese characters.

Although as people use mobile more and more this might change as most mobile keyboards have the .Com button.
