I've been out of the loop during the months that followed .mobi going public and am not, really, up to speed on what's going on in the .mobi world. I picked up several "mobi" names a couple of years ago projecting that the ext would be approved and that it would, indeed, be .mobi and not .mbl or one of the other projected alternatives.
I'd like to get a read on the values but, even, of more interest to me would be your feedback on the usefulness of .com and other tld's names w/ "mobi" in the body. Feel free to pick and choose from this list, as well as from the names in my sig. Appreciate it.

mobimp3.com
mobivoip.com
mobicellular.net
mobione.net
mobiphone.org
mobiphones.us

mp3mobile.net (for a basis of comparison)

The .coms may have some value, but I think the .net, .org, and .us are probably reg gee to resellers.

Unfortunately, (for me), I think you may be right. My original thinking was that "mobi" would operate like "TV" does in the base terms of other tlds (ie there would be more traffic on the .com "companion" version of the keyword than to the .tv or .mobi version and that traffic would grow w/ the term.

All of the extensions are taken for several of these but that is, probably, the result of reseller speculation. Mobiphone.tlds and mobiphones.tlds, for instance, are all, generic directories or parked pages. I think that most of the traffic is, also, the result of reseller searches.

This is kind of ironic, (not to mention, illogical), when you think about it. Traffic stats that are supported by reseller's searching for names that only have reg fee value to other resellers and that aren't, generally, income producing because resellers are searching for names to speculate on and not for consumer goods.
