This makes me think of a question like: "between electrocution and beheading, which method of execution would you prefer?".

Which hurts less?
What exactly is beheading?

My advice would be to avoid both and to simply get these thoughts out of your head...........8^X

Well .co has been marketed and promoted on a global scale whilst the former hasn't because it's intended purpose is for Colombian businesses. .Co has had some pretty decent sales in the past. Premium keywords will always do well.

Some domainers may tell you .co is the best thing since sliced bread and rave about how it's the future and others will tell you to steer clear because it is easy to exploit. Make up your own mind on this matter.

It seems every time I have seen you raise this point someone comes along to mention they just had a big .co sale... choose your words carefully MG.

I apologize for my less than stellar context around the question in my first post....

I was seeking opinions from a business website stand point and not a reseller point of view. Again, I apologize....

I had a client register a .co domain for his business and he is adamant about buying the .com.co and I personally thought it was a waste of money but honestly had no hard proof of evidence to support my opinion.

Is there any benefit of owning a .com.co when you own the .co?
And what exactly is a .com.co domain?

.com.co is for local (Colombian) end users.
Until recently it was not possible to register under .co directly, many other countries still use domain names at the third level eg. .com.au .co.uk.

The registry promotes .co for international (global) use and .com.co for use within Colombia.
Do you need the .com.co of your .co, probably not unless you do business in Colombia or it's just another defensive registration. But if you own a .co you presumably don't own any other major extensions like .com .net or .org. So you probably won't bother.
