I had submitted many responses fro the premium .tv's. Today, I received my first reply from DemandMedia for Color.tv:

Subject: COLOR.TV

Hello,

You submitted an interest in COLOR.TV. We are holding a negotiated sale process whereby we are soliciting bids.

The reserve price is $10,000.00 USD and the โ€œbuy it nowโ€ price is $25,000.00 USD.

Please reply as soon as possible but no later than April 20th.

Of course, I won't reply. This is way above my head. Anyone interested? Only $25,000! :o

I don't see why this name is a premium in the first place.......COLOR.TV - WOWWWWWWWWW...............when did TV go colour - 60's????? around 50 years ago???

So whats the big deal??

And if its the branding that you are paying for, color is nice, but so are loads of names out there - from reg fee and upwards.........not worth anywhere close to 10k never mind 25k

Besides, they don't even mention what the annual registration will be....

I agree. $25,000? Nuts! I submitted responses to a bunch of names, so we will see what else I get soon! :|

Color.tv had a "r" value of 9500

and EQ was right this was the reserve price. So if the premie you are watching has an "r" of 9500, then this pricing should be expected.

For example, Dallas.tv is $10,000 with BIN of $25,000.

i wonder what the order is that they are sending them out?

it looks like the big-money names first...

has anyone gotten an email for a 1K or 500 name?

How did they come up with that valuation? X times annual revenue of PPC traffic? I don't think so.

so does it mean blackandwhite.tv is cheaper ?

Pretty ridculous price for that name.

Like Millers said - colour ( Yes I am British ) TVs have been around for decades now. Wonder what HDD.tv would go for if they were holding that one for ransom ( I mean auction )

I see that all these names have the same BIN of $25000. Is that a standard value regardless of the reserve price. Strange behavior from enom.tv

color.tv Reserve: $10,000 Bin: $25,000
FLorda.tv Reserve : $7500 Bin: $25,000
The domain SKG asked for Reserve: $2500 Bin: $25,000

Can't believe such a 'marketing': they haven't done any public promotion, they propose premium regs before the (delayed) release date, -I guess should they have such demand/pressure for .tv names they would have kept the embargo on-, further the present example of Color.tv highlighting once more their pricing & bid system does not improve the old .tv reputation and credibility, they are just killing the hen before getting the eggs. Yes, the more it changes the more it stays the same.

What they are doing is saying we already had the annual fees but if some sucker believes the name is wanted by a loto of people we can get them to pay $25,000

Bottom line Florida.tv has been $7500 a year since 2000 no one regged now they want to try to get $25,000 if not its where it was Priced at $7500 with no interested buyer actually and no one paying $25,000 for Color Imean laser the future was only listed at $5000 Plasma sold for $15000 LCD for $4200 so color for this price totally crazy IMO

This seems like it is going a bit backwards,
trying to get mass consumption prices before the masses even know they are for sale.

Maybe they don't expect anyone to actually register it for the price but since they are asking that price maybe they want current and potential customers to "see the value" in .tv so they are keeping their premium prices high?

BUT...if it is greed, we are screwed.

Guys,

I think its fair to say that all this outrageous pricing is not a DM problem, but an inherited problem from the .TV corp.

Color at $10,000 is more or less as ridiculous as at $25,000 BINโ€ฆโ€ฆ

Whilst the BIN pricing is something that has been introduced by DMโ€ฆโ€ฆ..I canโ€™t really see the harm in itโ€ฆ.

An individual or company will either bite or notโ€ฆ..if yes, then that shows that the market value for the BIN was spot on,. If noone bites, then the pricing will come down to the reserve price (how that happens will be interesting to see, how many times will they lower the BIN,. and by what amount before a bidder goes for it)

With COLOR.TV, the whole issue is irrelevant, since I predict very strongly that not only will no-one touch the BIN price, but that no-one will touch the reserve price either, until it comes down to $500 per annum at the very most

I disagree in the fact that now Demand Media can set the pricing , no more blaming Verisign the company that gave 70% discounts.

Millers if you were charging $10 for a cup of coffee and left that location I would charge less not Bump it too the buy it nowon this coffee is $15 but I may take $10 and oh blame Millers

Well EQ and Millers we all know what the real deal here is anyways.
It would not be good for DM to have all premiums gone so soon...
And I cant say I blame them,
I do think in the long run it helps .TV value,
but it is hurting the hard core domainers right now...

See Larry I look at domains in adifferent way as very unique the only market liquid enough for prices rising accross the board is strong generic .com IMO

If someone regs surfing.tv for $10,000 I don't believe that helps the value of my wet.tv. I mean a lot of decent price regs happened in 06
Kids.tv
Sports.tv
Men.tv
Women.tv
HG.tv
Concert.tv

To name a few... I don't think they brought values up for other .tv it may help get the extension noticed more but I never thought BUD.tv helped my portfolio increase

Another thing if premiums too high people will use the ********tv.tv version IMO

I see what your saying, each domain is each domain, and really is independent.

However, If stories start running on CNBC about .TV domain names going for $25,000, people who arent in your business will hear the money flowing around...

EQ, has this type of situation ever happened before, the way these premiums are being handled, and right before the launch of a new company?

I think what is happening is that they are all excited that a dozen people from this board all signed up on those forms for every good name in the hope that the price would be good and so they said. "excellent", there is lots of demand....

We will see how many get regged in this period.

If I am them, why would I sell right before the big public promotion/announcement? Well, I would only sell if I thought I was getting a great price for the name...
