Before I start I do intend to do the right thing at the end of this, however...
Over the last few days there have been a few .co.uk going through which I commented in. It got me thinking about the transaction I was referring to where which I sold about 5 months back.
So just out of pure curiosity I went and had a look at it on the whois database - and to my surprise I found that I am still the registered owner of the domain
It looks as though the fool customer who I sent the form to and the transfer payment hasn't sent it on to Nominet (and this late on makes me think he isn't going to). To add to it there is now a fully developed corporate website built around the name.
So my question is kind of multi levelled... What will happen at renewal, will I get hit for the renewal fees? Do I still legally own it? If I was a less scrupulous person could I just turn around and demand more money even though they have already paid me (about $400ish)?
Am I under any obligation to sort this out (other than an ethical one), i.e. if I don't do anything about it then get the renewal through and choose to pay it and transfer the DNS back to me - will he have a legal leg to stand on?
Another good point in this is, doesn't it just illustrate the problem of the silly paper system.
My intention is to email the customer and tell him of the cock-up, but I bet this means I will have to fill in a new transfer form
