Affordably-priced domain name presents an opportunity for domain name investors.

The company has delivered on the pricing promise. GoDaddy and other registrars are offering the domain names for about $20-$25.

With many “cloud” .com domain names selling for five figures, this seems like a good opportunity for domain name investors. There are no restrictions on registering .cloud domain names.

.Cloud had 500 sunrise applications and 2,651 landrush application

How many of those guys see a profit?
I saw this also, then saw in most older gtld's many of these numerics were sitting unregistered, so it is really hype when it comes to new numeric gtld's, they are hot for a bit, then everyone forgets about them, and they slowly start dropping stupid renewals, and speculative renewals.

The one's worth getting in cloud, are very expensive, I don't see a single person talking about a strong keyword they have acquired such as host.cloud, or share.cloud nothing. There is a reason for that, they are not attainable they have been priced out of fair market value, or reserved.

It's very Old News by-now that most strong premium gtld's come with an expensive price tag.

Clever domain investors put in the hard work and find Great Keywords for reg. fee, it's really that simple !

Somehow I got confused and thought NNN.clouds were registry reserved. Guess I missed out on the good ones. Chinese grabbed a bunch. They are starting to use non Chinese registrars more and more now as they have to in order to catch these things. Seen many had orders at Name.com
Some of the best NNN were registry reserved, from what I checked.

Meeting.Cloud for $125,000, I am open minded, and realistic, I can see both sides of the DOT.

Please tell us what you got in cloud, other than non speculative numerics, which you have no buyer for other than hyped Chinese investors trying to save themselves from currency devaluation.

I saw some NNN showed as taken, but nothing in the Whois. Like 868.cloud
Must be selling some at premium prices and holding some back for future auction or other purpose.

Nothing wrong with GTLD's, but there is no reason to own 358.cloud, other than you hoping some chinese buyer will pay you more than the $20 you paid for it. If you think Chinese are all about numbers, well they still have to type the DOT CLOUD into the url window. You are all chasing the same tail, you just don't know it yet.
What you are saying here you could also be saying about .CLUB, .XYZ, .TOP, and all the others that have gone from reg fee to much higher prices in the last year.

You are taking best of breed after the fact, they are all generic in a sense within their respected markets, .cloud is more specific to it's technology base. It cannot be duplicated across all extensions.

Every extension is attempting to sell Numeric.GTLD's in some cases they might work, in MOST they do not.

Western investors I do not blame them for chasing the trend, but I wouldn't want to be the one holding when the renewal ball drops. You have chinese investors buying a whole slew of numeric .wine, many western also, it just makes no investment sense at $50 a pop. What I have seen in most cases, is whatever money is made, is usually lost in 1-2 years in renewals, then eventual drop of dead inventory.

The registries are eating this up, it is free money, they never saw this numeric trend padding their bottomline, they should seriously run, and market it as much as they can. Maybe that is why we have seen .ws wakeup, for years it has been dead, all the sudden they say it is a good investment?

I tend to purchase names I am happy to renew, not names I count the days to renewal on.

The growing Chinese domain investor base has changed the domain market from what it was 2 or more years ago. So sure, .ws has been stagnant in the past, but in a market like we've had the last year, .ws may get a second chance. No one was registering 6 and 7 number .com's not long ago either, and 5 number .com's and 4 letter .com's were close to reg fee in price not long ago. People forget how big China is and the influence they carry with a 1.3 billion population. I don't even think their domain market has peaked yet, there will be more Chinese getting into domaining. No one really knows where all this is going, we are all just guessing.

Good thinking :D
I am a big fan of cloud technology, they paid a lot of money for this extension, it was always known that the best of breed names would be pricey. Unless you can find a diamond in the rough, there is not many other plays in this niche, the numerics are a long shot if you can find a buyer, to each their own.

I saw a few posts back people were wanting to register u-s.cloud, a hypehn within a gtld, it is a strech, hypen within a strong .com is still a hard sell, I can't even imagine within a new GTLD, but the registry has forced people to think outside the box. The $20 price range let's you get a few spec registrations in play, but the stuff you want is share.cloud, host.cloud, meeting.cloud, virtual.cloud, iot.cloud, virtual.cloud, upload.cloud etc...

I'm late to the party but did pick up:

1800.cloud

Exact match: 14,800
CPC: $8.09

Could be a tech business, maybe a twilio generating 1800 numbers, helpline for cloud services, etc

It is not a valid phone number, they would need to secure the .com for spillover also, good try though

I see both .com/.net are owned, and sitting on unregistered godaddy nameservers

Your stats seem way off

If you are in the business of selling domains (aka a domainer) you should be after names that buyers want.

The demand.
