I know namepros is loaded with talented designers so i'm giving it a try!

Type of Contest : Logo
Prize : $60
Contest End Date & Time : Tuesday, August 30, 2016 @ 7:00 PM EST
Size Requirements : Will need various sizes for marketing material so must look great in all sizes. It must especially look great on a website. A more horizontal design preferred.
Color Requirements : I don't have any preference so please be creative!

General Requirements : I honestly don't have any specific design in mind. So I'm banking on your creativity. The logo name is: GOTbrands. Design can be with or without the .com. I want the "GOT" to stand out somehow. The company invents, buy, sells and develop brandable domain names for startups. So the design should not only look great but also fit the idea. You may incorporate a unigue icon into the design but it has to be original and not something i can buy on a stock website.

Preferences: I prefer designs that looks original down to the text, if you have skills in illustrating or drawing. make sure the "GOT" stands out because it really carries the name.

Additional Information : Please do NOT post the name of the business in this thread as I don't want the search engines indexing the name for this contest. I will be giving feedback throughout the time.

This is really similar to a design on Behance. It wouldn't be a big problem, but the letters are hand drawn by the designer. So it would be quite a big coincidence to design the same shape for the g and the b. There is a high chance that Mr. Mashari took those letters and made the logo with them.

Hi Julia, Thanks for spotting that. I think I know what happened...
His original logo design was nothing like this(It had a squared tail(see below).

The logo above was brought back to my attention, and I liked the compete look of the "gb" icon. Not so much the font for gotbrands. So in my attempt to give feedback, I kept remembering the "b" design for betabrands.com logo(it stood out). In my effort to see how this logo would look with a more uncommon tail design, I asked to see a design with a different tail that wasn't squared. I googled some icons to find an example, to use to see how it would look. The crazy thing is the example i found, is the exact image you found. This is the link i got it at the time..

I checked it after seeing your post. I had to click edit in order to see the logo and retrieve link.

After sending the image It didn't show up on my post even now I cant see it. So i just asked the designer to design a tail, that had a leaf like shape also but not expecting the exact look. I didn't look back on the old image as i assumed the look would be different and the photo would just be used as a reference to help the designer understanding what was asking.

My Conclusion: I am now thoughtful over this close similarity. From the start I'm always about identity and uniqueness. For the positive side, They are differences in the tail, but subtle. The behance logo tail for "b" has a consistent round curve to the tip, while this logo has a sharp inner curve as it reaches the tip. It didn't go consistently on one path. Same for the upper part of the "g" etc...

Also, the overall design concept is totally different as seen from the squared version. Nevertheless, I will discuss it with my team soon and If I feel the tail is too close i will either try to change it more or revert back to the sguared look. I will also bring this to the attention of the designer.

Let me know if you have any further thoughts from what i explained?

Hi, I was waiting to speak to some friends I network with in the City to get their opinions. Possibly by tomorrow.
It's a sold logo that would fit the site and has a design that can work for a number of brands. Even though it can be used, I'm not sure it's the perfect or closest fit for the brands identity. I do see things better when I get well rounded opinions/advice so I will let you know if anything changes tomorrow.

If you get the time, I would like to see any other unique concepts that come to mind.

Now I understand, I didn't follow the thread and I haven't seen that you asked him to make revisions. But it is weird because the image you provided can't be seen in your post where you asked for the revisions so I have no idea how he got to such a similar shape. A solution might be to ask him for more revisions, because in this moment I think that the similarity between the letters is quite big. Thank you for the explanations!

Hi, I realize how similar the tail of your design is to another persons design(not exact but very close), so can you please do a more unique tail design for me that looks like no other?
