This would certainly shake things up! FoxNews reports:

It’s almost certainly just a case of the telephone game gone high-tech, but there’s an Internet rumor surging through inboxes and discussion boards that Joe Biden will drop out as Barack Obama’s running mate after his Oct. 2 debate with Sarah Palin — and that he’ll be replaced by Hillary Clinton on the Democratic presidential ticket.

The story line goes as follows: John McCain’s selection of Palin has generated so much interest in the Republican ticket that Obama needs to make a radical move to regain momentum. So in the days after the vice presidential candidates debate in Missouri, Biden will bow out, citing “health problems” (Biden underwent surgery in 1988 to repair two brain aneurysms). Enter Clinton.

Ehh, I don't buy it.

McCain naming Palin as VP gave the campaign some brief steam, but Obama has a nine-point lead right now (apparently undecided voters think he can do better with the economy than McCain).

I won't believe it til I see it but I would have loved to see an Obama/Clinton or especially an Obama/Gore ticket instead of Biden. sigh!

I don't think McCain will make it to through the first debate. His health is failing him, and he needs a break from the campaign trail. Palin's interview today was a catastrophe, and I was shocked at how nervous and unsure she was.

Clinton will not replace Biden, Obama doesn't need to pull anything sensational; just listening to McCain tell the American people that "the economy was fundamentally sound" last week, and then trying to dodge the first debates this week has doomed the Republican party.

Why didn't we put Ron Paul forward???

To late to drop a VP candidate™, IMO. It will get worse as election day gets closer. :snaphappy:

I think that this horrendous pick :imho: of Biden further shows the lack of judgment on the part of the Democratic Nominee.

This, along with his numerous "questionable associations" will only help push the undecided voters over to the #1 McCain/Palin Ticket™! :snaphappy:

I buy it, because it makes sense. No matter what you think about Sarah Palin, she has the Democrats, and Obama scrambling! Hillary would be the perfect "countermeasure" Obama needs. As stated above, Biden would have a "legitimate" excuse to bow out. I'm sure Hillary would see it as her duty to help Obama now, plus it gets her back in line to be a possible Prersident some day.
My own opinion, but I wouldn't doubt it happens!

I wouldn't mind seeing Clinton in as VP. They would probably make a good team. It should have been that way from the start.

I just watched an interview with Bill Clinton yesterday on YouTube where he states that Hillary would prefer to remain in the Senate than run as Obama's VP but she'd do it "as her duty" if asked. Doesn't sound too promising.

^ Absolutely shocking how little actual knowledge she has, and unprepared to boot! :o :red: :imho:

It's been another very difficult week for the McCain folks ... even the most generous of polls paints an increasingly bleak picture for the Republicans in the national polls, and more importantly, in the key swing states! :guilty: :imho:
Don't mess with sure success ... Obama/Biden #1 in 2008! :music:

Just my two sense.

In my humble opinion ..... Obama blew it once by ingoring Clinton..... Bringing her on now would appear disingenuous and desperate. This would be tantamount to a "Clinton bullet" in Obama's other foot. :o

I doubt Clinton would even go for it.

Last week - "the economy is fundamentally sound"
Does anyone really think the economy is still sound?

this week - "now the Democrats are scrambling"
Obama is up by 9% in the polls, how is that scrambling?

Clinton will not be the new VP, it's just another story to distract people from thinking about what's happening right now.

I want to see a debate,

Good Luck, as it's blatantly obvious to anyone who has any instincts whatsoever with regard to national politics ... that McCain does not want this debate at this time! :| :red: :imho:
He and Palin are, literally, reeling ... and he and his party getting pounded with the current economic woes - "four more years of a failed Bush" plainly in front of all to see - and they are avoiding this first and very public debate like the plague, IMHO. Interesting enough, the economy is not the scheduled topic of the debate ... but when folks looks at McCain - AT THIS TIME - all they see is a failed Bush 'doctrine' and economy! :red:

It doesn't look like the Democrats would try to bring in Clinton, they are pulling away with the race right now. Check this out:

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

When McCain took on Palin for a running mate he shot himself in the foot, now I fear he will shoot his other foot when he tries to claim victory for the bailout. There will be no victory when we have to spend 700 Billion dollars to fund corporate welfare.

Clinton as VP, just a screen to distract people from the fire.

McCain will chew Obama up in the debates, it won't even be close. Obama's strength is in giving unopposed, feel good charisma based speeches. Fluff.

The only good the debates might do the democrats is pit Biden against Palin, and Biden's decades of experience and fairly hot temper might even the score overall. Yet, if Palin manages to hold her own, or if Biden gets too aggressive and appears to bully her, there could be an adverse reaction.

Obama made a mistake not pulling Hillary in as VP, for both short and long term reasons. If he loses this election, his unwillingness to work with her will be used in the next election cycle to prevent him from running again, after he has gained 4 more years of experience. Instead, it will be perceived as 'her turn', or perhaps finally, Evan Bayh's 'turn'. My bet is, she will be the nominee next time around, and will offer the VP to Bayh.

In the end, McCain by 3, in overtime.

"McCain will chew Obama up in the debates" Maybe in a faith based debate, but when it comes to NOW telling people he understands the economy soooo well that he's rushing back to washington to SAVE us, McCain should be wiping his mouth with toilet paper.

I think those who are trying to stir up this Clinton as VP thing, are seriously trying their best to keep people from staring at the fire, and the Republicans are SCRAMBLING to put out a fire they created. But that's another thread and another story.

Clinton as new VP, Just another Republican diversion tactic in an attempt to redirect the focus away from their latest catastrophe. Palin win a debate??? She can't even do an interview!!!

I think if Obama doesn't pull this off, he'll be a long time waiting for another chance. RogueWriter is right.. Hillary will get the nomination next time around if we don't see Obama win this time.

but if this is true thn it will help win back any female voters that palin might have taken from the democratic side
