Client <action> Prohibited

I see this fairly often for domains I look up on whois.sc...

Domain Status: clientDeleteProhibited
Domain Status: clientRenewProhibited
Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited
Domain Status: clientUpdateProhibited

I'm am assuming "client" is referring to the person who regged the domain.

What does it mean when you see these in a domain's whois info?

Did the "client" somehow do something shady and is being punished by not being allowed to renew the name, delete it, transfer it or whatever?

Most of the my names on moniker shows the same status..

I guess it's just another way of saying "LOCKED". I have many domains at GD and I never saw that for this on any of my domains. Must be with certain servers. I guess it's not big deal.
