You might have to pay a redemption fee.

Login to GoDaddy and click on the "Domains" tab then on "Recover Expired Domains"

If the name is long and not worth much, you might be able to just re-register the name after it drops. It might save you some money.

Unless you absolutely think the name is worth $87 !!

how long after date of expiration it will be available? I have a domain name from a company that want to get the name but was expired at Godaddy, I can click redemption but will cost $88.00 according to post above, I can suggest him to grab it after it has been deleted (available) but it say expiration date nov28,2009 so when should I expect to be available?

Sometimes it can take up to 3 months. Also if someone has back ordered the domain you would loose out anyway unless you have the highest bid on it.

My understanding is that once the domain expires you have an 18 day grace period to renew the name at the regular rate. If you choose not to renew then the domain name, it gets released to the open market in 42 days. But keep in mind that release to the open market may be negated as stated above by a backorder.

It take around 60 days after expiration. So it is pretty long time.
