.top domains’ registration ranks top three among the world's new top-level domains

According to the latest statistics released by the overseas statistics website namestat.org, in the world's new top-level domain name registration list,
.top domain names ranked third on the list with 1,870,539 registrations.
.top domain name will be renewed and become an important force leading the development of global domain names.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Com, no doubt.
I'll never choose a .top domain to rapresent my business.
.top registry took back a domain from me without any reason, without any communication, only "Domain was rerserved".
Me and my parnters have lost a LOT of money.
And, after months, I've discover the same domain took back from me was released to another person (is it no reserved now?????).
I'll never build my web presence (it means invest $ XX.XXX) on extension that can/could destroy my business (aka took back my domain).
Only .com, or eastern extensions.
That's all.

This is not industry news. It is nothing but advertising for .TOP.

Well moderators removed the evidence posted about how bad the TOP extension is full of garbage. Garbage names, illegal activities. Other posts keep being removed. I will post it elsewhere on the net and it will be indexed. OP is only advertising, why not buy an advertisement?

@bmugford Renewal for all .TOP premiums is STANDARD.

Yep. that is why I said registration and/or renewal fees. The .TOP registry like many other new registries has arbitrarily set aside "premium" terms that are only available for much higher initial registration prices.

Maybe if the registries had not been so greedy the outcome would be different, but at this point .TOP is losing more and more registrations daily with limited actual interest. That is why they are here spamming.

@Eric Lyon
So .TOP, I see you are into Plagiarism too?

If you’re in the process of coming up with a great domain name, you might feel overwhelmed. Many of the word combinations you try are already taken. You’re unsure if a .com domain is truly necessary. Maybe you wonder if you should include popular keywords in your domain name.

If your domain name isn’t easy to remember, the chances that your audience will find it decrease. Domain names that are easy to remember are short, catchy, spelled correctly, and don’t feature numbers and hyphens as we mentioned above

Forbes has advice here for people too:

1) This is not industry news, merely a post about where .top currently ranks at namestat. This can change by the month, so what's the point?

2) Another valid response by user mpls:
.top registry took back a domain from me without any reason, without any communication, only "Domain was rerserved".
Me and my parnters have lost a LOT of money.
And, after months, I've discover the same domain took back from me was released to another person (is it no reserved now?????).
So, what say you to this, registrar?

I mean, you have to admit, this business of domain name theft by the registries will not be tolerated by the registrants. There was another thread elsewhere made by the .CLUB registry along the lines of "If you prick us, do we not bleed" where a user pointed out the volatile pricing and other deficiencies, unfortunately the registry has yet to own up. Will you?

Sure, no doubt about this for a trusted extension like .IO
But .top (this discussion) with 1,870,539 registrations their best customers are (only) domainers.
How many legits and companies .top websites in Alexa 1 million?

I asked the female .top registry OP multiple times to answer the question.

They refuse. Bad PR.

They come here to troll domainers posting nonsense daily because they have few western end users. Xdrftgg.top, and gguybi.top and eertdgv.top and other stupid names are the only ones that rank.

In order to solve the problem that many .com domain names have been registered,
In 2012, ICANN meeting resolution through the new top-level domain name opening application proposal, .top domain name was born.

.top as a new top-level domain name was available to register on November 18, 2014.

.top domain name as new gTLD, the English translation is "high-end" and"top", Chinese transliteration is "breakthrough",If the .com domain name that you liked has been registered, why not choose .top domain name? .com and .top both are generic top-level domain names and they both can be used globally.

It didn't solve many problems when registries like .TOP and many others reserve "premium" terms for ridiculous registration and/or renewal fees.

Every single .COM was registered for a standard registration fee at some point, and has a stable renewal fee. The same is not true with most new extensions.

Maybe .top could solve one problem: spam coming from .top addresses. But maybe keeping the TLD clean is not a priority and way too late ?

I remember your talking about the name the .top registry took back from you, @mpls in the past.

Love to know the name, and explanation from @TOP Registry

Maybe, they forgot, their best customers are here.

Domain investors are the icing on the cake - the bread & butter is end-users.

Without end-user demand, investors will (understandably) show little or no interest.

FYI: I was CTO at dot-IO for 10 yrs, so I speak from that specific experience.

My thoughts exactly when I was reviewing new topics. Nothing wrong with advertising, but, if .TOP registry is considering their product as a serious and useful one, what prevents them from ordering advertising campaign right on this forum? Such as banners, paid sticky posts, etc? As a member, I would only appreciate some "fresh air" in ads shown, as they are pretty much the same for a long time. This suggestion does not mean that I like (or dislike) this particular new gtld, but any advertising campaign should always be clearly marked and presented as such. imho.

It would be interesting to see opposite examples, .top as a main site with .com forwarded to .top :~)
Try it with my username ;)

1 of my parked .TOPs - was suspended (serverHOLD)... without any reason and without any notification.
Thanks to AlpNames - it was reactivated again...
Hello!Thank you for your support for .top.
Alpnames is one of the greatest registrars that cooperated with .TOP Registry.
There must be some reasons lead to serverHOLD

42.com and 2.top looks like a majority

-30,000 more dropped.top names today. xyz is up 6,700

.top is gonna flop cause their little bubble is going to pop

Were no any reasons.
The domain was dropped... then it was some time available... then handregged by me... parked and listed for sale.
And that's all, was no any activity on it.

But they don't lose any premiums...
And most of those drops are real **** without any value.

Should have released .pot instead, then domainers will buy it :)

Brad

and this sh*t has not been removed yet??
man, what a criteria... no wonder "older guys" are spending less and less time here and content quality has decreased abruptly.

ups. this comment will probably be removed... I noticed that I am making an insinuation against NamePros!
my bad.

but remember, you cannot brake NamePros rules. Except when it is possible. But you never know when...

in this thread and with this OP it should apply:

1.1. Do not spam or engage in self-promotion outside the designated advertising areas, e.g., Advertising Board.

1.8. Do not write or share the same content in multiple places on NamePros; duplicate content is forbidden unless quoted and used within reason.

1.14. Do not make noncontributory posts or artificially inflate your post count ("post pad"):
  • Do not unnecessarily post multiple times in a single discussion in a short period of time, sometimes called instant messaging (instead, take your time before posting so that all relevant content can be grouped together within a minimum amount of posts).
  • Only post comments and questions that are pertinent to the topic and contribute to the discussion.
  • Needlessly short and/or noncontributory posts are not allowed except in select sections like Domain Name Requests, NamePros Blog comments, and Domain Chat.

.....

where a user pointed out the volatile pricing and other deficiencies, unfortunately the registry has yet to own up. Will you?

And this is the most unprofessional beahviour a company can do.

Maybe, they forgot, their best customers are here.

They have/had to be here 24/7 to reply (honestly) to their customers.

When a company disappear... I don't know, sounds so shady....

My experience of newGTLD registries is that they are not as professionally run as Verisign.

1) Prices offered, then withdrawn
2) domain sold & delegated, then pulled back
3) virtually random pricing policy
