SEDO III auction and .mobi...

Is this going to negatively impact the .mobi extension? NO.

Worst case scenario = a lawsuit between SEDO and a few domainers. The upside of this lawsuit is incremental awareness of the .mobi extension and its extreme potential value. The downside of the lawsuit is that SEDO looks amateurish. MTLD moves on.

.Mobi's success isn't going to be determined by a handful of domainers and an auction house.

The only thing that might negatively affect .mobi is if Mtld chooses to auction more names through Sedo in the near future... That looks highly improbable at present.

Agreed, although I have come to the conclusion (without any inside information) that some way or another Sedo will resolve at least most of the conflicts and will indeed continue to hold Mtld's auctions, no doubt with larger servers.

Perhaps the answer is to offer the parties similar domains of equal value. Of course Costas needs Music.mobi for his plans, but maybe Alvaro would accept a substitute. And I doubt Mtld would mind selling a few more domains. As a businessman myself I see oportunitity when there are too many customers!

If Sedo fights this to the bloody end, they lose a lot of money in legal fees and settlements, a great deal of damage is done to their reputation, and they imperil their continuing highly profitable relationship with Mtold. I could be wrong, but I doubt they are that stupid. Probably blame it on some junior tech guy and can him.

I see people are referring to (a few) lawsuits! There are 100 pretty angry people out there who were robbed of their names. I would expect at least 75% will follow through with legal proceedings. I know I am!
