Ammadamus,

R u spanish or do you just have a thing for spanish regges....??!!

the forum is starting to turn into a spanish language forum cause of u!!

there is no doubt that there are so mmany good key words still available to be picked up at reg fee that it is starting to really alarm me......as far as how expensive this will get......

I regged COCINERO.TV ,which correct me if I am wrong, is Spanish for a cook, or a chef, (male) .....

COCINAR.TV - Roughly translating to COOKING.TV or (verb) COOK.TV for short is actually a $1500 premium....and I have seen more premium fee names in Spanish than any other language put together......

There were another nine I found that I really liked, but am holding off for now.

The one puzzling thing about all these spanish regges, is that of all nine I checked, all were gone in every other ext, and all of them are parked pages - most of them in English........had more of these been developed, I would probably have regged them all..............

I just get cold feet when I see so many parked pages in every ext.....

I was thinking that the other day.
You look at a good domain, but then all other variations just have advertisements, so it makes u question the purchase.

I think the thing to remember though is if its .tv
everyone is going to be talking about .tv so you will have momentum over other extensions with it for resale.

I have had similar experience as you with Spanish tv's, there is a good number of keywords out there but the .com , .info's and .es are parked in atr least 50% of the domains ive found.

I cannot believe the number of strong keyword Spanish .com's that are sitting parked, it is a bit of a waste to some great names i think.

Millers can i ask something about SPanish Regs: When you are looking at Spanish domains then i guess you do a overture check right? The question i wanted to know is what would you regard as a decent overture for a Spanish keyword??
I dont really have experience with Spanish domains so i dont know what is approx average overture (i know its hard to give average overture scores but any clue to how you weed out the SPanish gems would be great thanks)

.TV is going great so far in 2007, exciting times ahead for us all :$:

Thanks

Millers,
I am not Spanish, but have a strong belief in the market and its expansion. I have seen quite a few strong generic keywords that have parked pages and that may cause hesistation at first, but I believe the foreign market is catching up, esp Spanish. I know many of you are strong believers of premiums, but I am surprised by the number of gems available for reg fee. Cocinero does mean chef or cook. Cooking would be better, but see what you can create out of that.

Hope this helps,
A

mckennaronnie

My knowledge regarding domaining in general and spanish regges in particular is limited, much as it makes me feel good to ask my advice.

as far as foreign regges are concerned, I am mainly going with whether I think it is a nice keyword name, good connection with .TV, good end user oppurtunities. and a google score over 2 million..I have found that OVT is generally very low even for great key words and so would not reg any foreign names if I let myself be influenced by OVT.......

Thanks Millers, i have found the same as you that great SPanish Keywords have low Overtures scores but as it is my 1st taste of looking for foreign names then i wasnt sure how to look at the overture side of things.

I am amazed at how many great Spanish names are available though im being twice as careful as usual as im worried i will reg a few which dont mean what i thought as my SPanish isnt great.

Cheers

Millers & Mckennaronnie,
Good ways to validate if a reg is going to be solid. I usually check three different sources for understanding a translation. If it is not the same on a majority of them, I won't reg them.

http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dict_en_es/

http://www.spanishdict.com

http://www.wikipedia.org

I also do overture, check google and even look at other spanish developed sites to see how common the generic is.

Hope this helps,
A

well milller,

No one in spain/mexico will type in "conicar", that literally means "to cook". Good reg on the cocinero one though.

And even better, ask a spanish native ;)

Seriously, I've seen many spanish regged names at NamePros meaning absolutely nothing. Sometimes they are for appraisal but, hey, from time to time you see a guy trying to sell a funny gibberish for a high amount...

Avoid that and save yourself some money.

PS: In case you are wondering... yep, I am spanish and I would gladly help you to decide if it is worth registering a name
