Longhorn.com Auction

Wow, I would love to have this domain for one of my western fiction sites. Already over 8K, wonder how high it is going to go? I imagine the Longhorn restaurant chain is or will be in on that bidding....

I don't see XXX,XXX at all. What makes this so great?? Is it just 'cause there are alot of LongHorn Steakhouses and such? Or is the TM really what is causing the huge price tag?

I think there is always a big difference between

"social" domains vs commercial domains

longhorn.com falls in the commercial category which has a solid market. it is associated with cattle, beef, retails, different store products, and many other businesses....

now lets find a social domain as an example..let's say hello.com "hello" is not associated with products, sales or an existing market.

it is just my 2 cents.

Nice name. I wouldnt buy it because i would fear hostilitys from MS.

Robert
You have got to be kidding us. They never registered a single domain name nor did they ever apply for a mark of any sort under what was yet another โ€œannounced and proclaimed code nameโ€.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

And, there are thousands of them. For some reason Jessica Simpson made 30,000,000 last year. Would it be so difficult for this Longhorn grad to dish out a measly 100,000 for a name like this?

Best wishes,
Kimmy

Anything under 25k would be a steal IMHO. So many rich texans and the steakhouse :0

Looks like a namepros member, or maybe even RJ.
Thatโ€™s his business. If this does not head into the stratosphere it can be a wise investment.

Hehe, okay, I'll keep telling myself that! Just taking one for the team!

I see that longhorns.com is owned by Fanmail.com, maybe they are interested in the singular as well..

Longhorn (as far as MS cares) is no longer a care of MS. :P The new OS is called Vista, and all reference to "Longhorn" has been removed.

I'm not one to be pushy, but you should really check your info before making a post. Especially a post that may influence others to make decisions based on your false facts. ;)

Anyway, it's a good name indeed, and obviously has a strong interest. :)

This is the first thought I had of the auction when I saw this post that people would bid on it just because Microsoft was using the name before but surprisingly you were the first person to bring it up now.

Was curious about the TM. There are actually a ton of Longhorn TM's. This particular one is in regards to Remediation Services (Whatever those are). The .com isn't trademarked though.

Mediation.. not remediation..

At 20k now, dunno about that high bidder though. Something suspicious to me about someone with 12 feedback and none in the past year popping into an auction at 20 grand..
