hello, I need to transfer some money from Italy to Australia but with the currency conversion from Euro to AUD and the 2 bank`s fees it`s getting painful.

Any better way?

I was thinking about using a Credit card.....at least they would apply the Forex exchange rate rather than the crazy rate of the bank.......but I`m not sure and plus the credit card limit is way below the amount I have to transfer.

Advices?

Thanks

No they have agents where you can go and pay cash.

2. What service is available online?
Our online money transfer service allows you to send money fast from the convenience of your computer. You can use a Visaยฎ or MasterCardยฎ credit* or debit card and your money is generally available for pick up in minutes*

9. How do I send money from an Agent location?
Simply complete the required form and pay the Agent. You'll need enough money to cover the transfer amount plus applicable fees. You will also be charged for any currency conversion that is performed. Your transaction will be processed immediately.

10. What do I need to send money from an Agent location?
All you need is your current government-issued photo identification and cash to cover your payment and fees.

12. How are money transfers paid out to individual receivers?
Generally, we pay your money transfer with cash.

no bank accounts needed :!:

Here in Canada its pretty simple for US$ deposits - not sure if similar solution would work for you. I opened a Canadian bank account denominated in US$. I can then deposit cheques drawn on US banks. No cost to transfer the money internationally although there is a delay for funds to clear. When I want to convert to Canadian $ I either take the banks rate or do some comparison shopping if the amount makes it worthwhile.

By the way I wouldn't assume that your credit card gives a decent foreign exchange rate. My credit card charges 2.5%.

Thanks....I have no idea about my credit card.....but I can find that.

Out of curiosity: since someone told me that you can`t open a US bank account if you are not a US resident, how about a Canadian? What do you need to open one? And by the way......you still convert the US$ in CA$....

Cheers

Hum.... I think you should re consider the above statement. I think you can open a US bank account. If you consult someone who is dealing in international stocks exchange he will tell you more about it :)
