Changing Blog Domain Name

Hello all!

I have learn't alot from this website and would like to thank you all for it.

I have a question: Currently I have a blog running with many articles but the domain name is not that attractive. I have found a new domain name which would be apt for the content. I want to shift all my content to the new domain. Is this accepted by search engines or will they see it as duplicate content and will not go through my website? Moreover, will it affect my Google Adsense if I put it up on the new domain name?

I want to completely close down the previous domain name, so will it be different?

Put the website up on the new domain, then put a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new domain.
