Hello, i am thinking about setting up a local registrar for my area and im wanting to know which is the best reseller for .com.au domains. The reseller account must be easy to use and customizeable and has the cheapest prices.

If anyone has any recommendations please post here.

2.1

Canadian Presence Requirements. After public consultation, CIRA has determined that the .ca domain space should be developed as a key public resource for the social and economic benefit of all Canadians. Accordingly, Applicants must meet certain Canadian Presence Requirements.
While the Canadian Presence Requirements for Registrants set out below still require a connection to Canada, they will enable a much broader group of persons to register a .ca domain name than under the policies and rules of the UBC Registry.
CIRA is committed to reviewing these Canadian Presence Requirements from time to time in order to ensure they remain in the best interests of Canadians and the CIRA Registry.
Only the following individuals and entities will be permitted to apply to CIRA (through a CIRA Certified Registrar) for the registration of, and to hold and maintain the registration of, a .ca domain name.

(a)Canadian citizen. A Canadian citizen of the age of majority under the laws of the province or territory in Canada in which he or she resides or last resided;

as I/we had no idea of age restrictions :red:

Yeah, I would bet there's a lot of people that don't realise there is that particular restriction. I could see it possibly leading to a domain being taken from a "Minor" if someone complained loud enough, especially if they were holding a good one that someone wanted for themselves but didn't want to pay a decent price for.

Non US person regging a .US

Seen a .us that I'm interested mainly for holding to sell at some stage as part of a set in a niche that could be big in the future.
Not being from the US are there any techniques I could use to reg this and hold on to it and potentially sell in years to come with out fear of having it suspended? due to me not being from the US. I guess I could reg it with someone elses name under the owner however I feel it is not really your then.

Any Suggestions.

As per the rules and regulations of the .US registry (NeuStar Inc.), a person who registers a .US name must be either:

1.A natural person (i) who is a United States citizen, (ii) who is a permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, or (iii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions [Nexus Category 1]

2.A United States entity or organization that is (i) incorporated within one of the fifty (50) U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories, or

2.B Organized or otherwise constituted under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia or any of its possessions or territories (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States or a political subdivision thereof, and non-commercial organizations based in the United States) [Nexus Category 2]

or

3.A foreign entity or organization that has a bona fide presence in the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories [Nexus Category 3].

Solution:1

If none of these categories applicable to you, then you may try to obtain a LLC (Limited Liability Company) approval within any of the 50 states of the U.S.

An active LLC registration within the U.S allows you to register .us names even though you are not an U.S citizen. This solution is somewhat complicated, but it is a genuine and leagl way for non-U.S citizens to register and hold .us names.

Solution:2

Very simple way. Ask any of your U.S friends to register the domain name under their registrant contact details for you.

Though if you're contemplating a 'serious' investment ( $3k+ ) - I'd recommend the llc route.

Do also make sure local laws allow you to have one.

37.50€ = C$60 ...Who in their right mind is going to pay that when they cost as low as C$10.45? Plus the added uncertainty that you don't really have any claim to the domain!

Was not sure if any companys offered proxy regs such as some do for other cctlds.
I reckon I'll go for the use a friend route.
