.com.sc - the official country code for the Seychelles where gambling is legal and they have many casinos which are a major tourist attractions and a huge revenue earner for the country.

Also have Travel.com.sc and Seychelles.com.sc - must get this quartet developed. :)

One question to get answered before I can accurately grasp the value of this: it seemed like much more .sc names were registered than .com.sc, such that .com.sc was NOT all that much used in comparison to .sc. Is this not the case? I've let good names in .com.sc go by because of that.

To the best of my knowledge a back to front release compared to say com.cn which preceded the .cn. That is the .sc came first with the .com.sc only last year- I think :) - Seychelles.sc / Sex.sc for instance were first regged in 2001 - well established.

In addition, don't forget, country code tlds have only recently started to gain popularity, particularly exotic, and provided they are country specific and related then they should have value. JMO

Sorry if i wasnt clear. I meant to say i have seen the domain com.sc for sale at sedo. If that was a legit listing, then the .sc registry cant give you xx.com.sc domains, as the person who holds com.sc domain only can operate in that zone with his subdomains.. so probably that was a fraudulent listing.. i think com.sc is still listed at sedo..

I'm assuming it's fraudulent, but I saw another one that was certainly interesting.... .com.cc. :)

Two months ago I bougth casino.sc and it is not fraudulent (hope not :) ) as it was a legit Sedo sale. I paid EUR 2,800 so I appraise casino.com.sc as well as poker.com.sc at low to mid $$$ each.

Hi Johntv,

It is the com.sc Sedo "for sale" that is in question, not .sc - I have asked Sedo to clarify if it is genuine.

You have the first level domain of a country that actually has casinos which are legal - I think you got an absolute bargain at 2800 euos- worth much more JMO

The population is only 80k ... so I'd say that these have fairly limited value myself. Wouldn't it be just as valuable to hold citycasino.com (where city = 80k population)?

I guess the large tourism factor helps here too. Though just checked and there are only 3 casinos listed in the Seychelles: http://www.worldcasinodirectory.com/seychelles

I would estimate no more than mid-high xxx personally (though I am sure you know a lot more about this kind of thing than I).

I agree up to a point. But the main reason for having such an asset is for online promotion of a casino /gambling site.

If you do not run the risk of falling foul of country extensions that do not encourage gambling China/ India etc, that could possibly pull the rug from under then it becomes a viable low risk proposition. JMO

Seychelles, despite the low population and only three casinos allows and encourages gambling very low chance of losing the name because of non compliance.

Yes, it does show that .com.sc is the second level but the owners of .com.sc seem to be a company called emc.com, don't know if they are part of Atlas Seychelles(.sc admin) .

Sedo did not respond to my email asking for clarification regarding the listing of .com.sc and it is still for salle :td:

Wot, sorry about that, I misunderstood.
Seychelles is a small country (island), but a big holiday resort and relatively expensive. It is 'nearby' where I live (Kenya) and I know lots of people who have been there, even for their honeymoon. Therefore I rate your travel.com.sc and seychelles.com.sc at least as high as casino and poker. Your idea of developing them is a good one, these names beg for developing :)

Like mentioned in other posts also IMO the com.sc listing at Sedo is fraudulent or misplaced and you are the right owner of all your 4 .com.sc names. Furthermore, don't worry about the "transfer prohibited" at the whois, at my registrar they first told me that I could not transfer it to my name, but after Sedo stepped in it was done in a few days.

Hi Johntv,

No probs , I was reasonably confident everything was OK and had subsequently regged Cruise.com.sc and Register.com.sc :)

It is now next on my list to get developed by the guys that do work for me, they currently are doing a great job on Geography.info that should go live in a 3 weeks. :hi:
