Hi there,

can anyone please tell me what is the differences between terms car rental and rent a car?

I.E
which one is more often used when speaking, writing and advertising in daily life?

is "rent a car" more often used in europe than in america?

I recently received an offer for my rentacar-related domain name,
if it were "carrental", I am sure it could worth a lot....

please tell me as many as you know the differences between these two terms!
I will send some NPs as reward to any good answer.

thanks in advance!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There's a huge difference in Google results for one.. "car rental" has the most results by far (78 m vs 22 m) vs "rent a car".

I view them as basically the same tho "car rental" sounds a bit more formal and business-like to me.

Rent a Car sounds more like a "Brandable" type domain whereas Car Rentals is more generic, the term "car Hire" is also used but probably more so in europe.

car rental IMO sounds more business like.

It may not help you, but when I read your question, my immediate answer was that they are different parts of speech: one's a thing (noun-based) and one's an action (verb-based). So, although very different in this way, to answer your question, I'd say both are very valuable, buy two words are better than three.
