Car insurance vs. auto insurance

I am thinking of buying some domains with either the words "car insurance" or "auto insurance" in them. But now I have doubts which one is the better choice...

It seems more people search for "car insurance" than "auto insurance". On the other hand, "auto insurance" might be more "official" and broader, and therefore more attractive to end-user companies.

What do you think?

Thanks.

It's regional terminology. We say "car insurance" in the southern USA, but I am sure other parts of the world say "auto insurance".

Try to determine who your potential clients are. That will tell you the term you need to use.

Good luck.

Thanks, interesting fact. I guess it does depend on the region/country as well.

I like automobile better personally. In my opinion since that relates to more items. Car is simple just that a "car" auto can refer to cars, trucks, motorcycles ect. ect.

Yes, I am thinking that as well - that it is a broader term.

You must perform a search in Google keyword tool, to see which of these terms are used more frequently. Check before you buy this domain.

Yes, I did that. "Car insurance" gets more searches, but the difference is really not that huge.

In the end, it may be a matter of taste I guess.

I believe 'car insurance' is more popular in UK, while 'auto insurance' is the preferred form in America.

Google probably interprets the word car and automobile in a similar fashion when it is combined with "insurance".

I'd pick what you're more comfortable with.

I'd go with "auto" as it is broader and how the companies themselves refer to their business.

I would go with Car Insurance, here we don't say Auto Insurance at all.

Thanks for your input, everyone.

I am going for autoinsurance.cctld, as I feel it is a broader term. Time will show if it was a wise choice or not ;)

If you are targeting keyword car insurance, you buy domains with car insurance.
