I think some of these are worth in the $xxxx, but I'm a newbie and don't really know!

Appraisals? Buyers?

To an end user who needs that particular domain for a project they are working on might just pay $xxxx for any of those domain names however it would be better to have spent your money on lottery tickets. In my humble opinion you wasted your money and if you get back the registration fee you will be doing well from a lesson that we all had to learn the hard way.

All the best and I hope you are able to sell them :)

Unfortunately your enthusiasm and excitement is getting the best of you. The first issue is most of these domain names are very weak and coupled with the 2nd extension are lacking quite a bit. I believe you will find that there will no interest in these domain names. If you only registered these 5, consider it an inexpensive lesson. Another new domainer had purchased close to $1,000 in worthless domains.

The truth is you need to learn the domain market and the industry before jumping into buying. All domainers learn, most of us learn the hard way to start. But you will find techniques and strategies for finding the gems and the best ways to resell them or monetize them. Dont expect to buy a fresh registration and sell it for x,xxx right off the bat. I would recommend checking out the Newbie thread's as they are very insightful and lots of great people willing to help you out!

Best of luck and welcome to NamePros

Justin

I guess i have a lot to learn, I based my decision based on the fact that they were all keywords that paid decently and had a decent amount of searches.

Are they keywork strong? Sure. Do they get traffic? Probably not. Good keywords are tough to get, especially in .com - I would recommend focusing on buying .com domain names and look through some of the expired lists. If you smart, you can find some great gems.

I would have to agree with JasMate and Domainspade about the value of these names but luckily you didn't spend to much money at least I hope anyways. You are on the right track however when you researched before registering. This market can be an expensive one but done correctly can be very lucrative as well. Best of luck to you.

You need to make sure that you put your search in inverted commas so as you are searching for that exact term.

For example - Google Results
141,000 for "divorced single" but 1,530,000 for divorced single
67,700 for "kitchen ovens" but 1,620,000 for Kitchen ovens
101,000 for "internet spyware" but 71,700,000 for internet spyware
11 for "internet sex group" but 44,100,000 for internet sex group
98,000 for "pc laptop computers" but 53,100,000 for pc laptop computers

I would guess that you just typed the term in without the inverted commas and got back fantastic results.
It is a common mistake and caused me to reg a few stinkers until the good people here on NP set me straight.
Just learn from it and ask as many questions as you like. People on here are exceptionally knowlegable about domains and are always willing to help.

so first lesson: mashing up a bunch of related keywords doesnt automatically produce a great domain.

internetspyware is probably the best one you have there.

Thanks for all the replies.

So are keyword strength(High paying keyword) and amount of traffic(overture searches) and google results are some of the main important factors?

If so is there a threshold number that you guys use?

I have to agree with what has been said above. The domains are pretty weak and close to reg fee unless they get some traffic. Just because you have 'good' keywords doesn't make a good domain.
If these are fresh registrations I would request a deletion for a refund/credit (if your registrar allows it).

Some would I don't. For me it just comes down to comon sense. How many times have you searched for "kitchen oven"? If your oven breaks you would search for "ovens" "new oven" or "kitchen equipment" yeah? I would anyway. If you look closely at the other domains in your list you will see the same thing. I agree with shockie about your best domain being "internetspyware" but think about it even that one makes little sense, how many people do you know go looking for internet spyware on the internet?

See the big problem with all the names in your list is that they are two-worded names number 1 and number 2 they don't really make too much sense. As for three-word domains, forget it unless they are great keywords that make sense, the domain ends up still being relatively short and even then I would rethink the whole thing!

Not many people will search for "Internet sex group" why would they being as they are already on the internet, they would just search for "sex group".

You get my point by now I hope, don't look for a formula but rather use common sense, if you wouldn't search for the phrase being in the situation that would require you to find the information or buy the product then 95% of others would not search for that exact phrase either.

All the best with your future domaining and be thankfull you didn't spend big $$$ on this little mistake - and don't be hard on yourself we all do it from time to time :]
