Can you bait a company into buying a domain?

I'm a domain name newbie and I'm curious if you can buy a domain related to a product and persuade a company to purchase it from you? Is this considered unethical in your profession? Thanks.

For many here, that's the name of the game. Many sellers rely on outbound marketing, unless you buy quality names that sell themselves. Then it's just a waiting game.

Typical domainers think that way....starbucks own their name...but hey, starrybucks is available so I will buy it and try to con starbucks to buy it.
Yeah, if this is your business plan, you are planning for failure.

That type of "baiting" activity can be used against you in a UDRP (domain dispute) as evidence of bad faith and can cause you to lose the domain. If you're trying to protect your reputation in the business, stay away from trademark domains that have only one potential buyer and look for more generic types of names.
