Can women perform any role by a man and vice Versa?

This is a subject brought up in a recent appraisal thread, which got way off topic for a while but I think it bears merit, or at least some discussion.

Personally I think women are fantastic, women can do some wonderful things and they perform a very important role in society just as men do in their traditional role...however...

Do you think a woman can perform the role of a man as well as a man can perform the role of a woman and vice versa?
Example:

If you were a woman and needed a bathjob/spongebath to keep clean, would you feel comfortable with a man giving you one regardless of equal opportunity laws?

Any law that would allow me to go to a hospital and feel up women without a problem I have a MAJOR problem with but this is what anti-discrimination laws demand; where do you draw the line?

If you were a man and felt uncomfortable with a woman giving you a spongebath would you complain?

Don't get me wrong, I think women are bloody fantastic and girls in general but just like men cannot do childbirth for obvious reasons I think women cannot do certain things a man can do...

I am tired of listening to people say a girl can do whatever a man can do without any kind of back-up, here is your forum to stand up and prove it.

From personal experience I can tell you that if you are sick enough any sexual issues or inhibitions are the least of your concerns. In fact I can assure you that if it hurts enough, even the idea of dying isn't unattractive.

When you enter the health care system you need to check your modesty at the door and think of yourself as just another side of beef.

I think you need to find something besides health care to use as an example.

I agree with mhdoc when you are sick enough to be in the hospitable who cares about male female help.

i do think men and women have different attributes that make them better at certain jobs men have wider build so they can handle more weight and hard physical work.
I think women have more patience so they can handle watching children. etc

There is a book called "Don't get taken every time." by Remar Sutton that teaches about how to buy cars intelligently. He makes it interesting by creating a typical car sales guy and writing narrative around that. Really funny, educational, and nails the car sales persona.

I can say that because I found myself sitting in a car dealers back office some years after reading the book. The dealer was coaching one of his sales guys on what to say to the customer out in the showroom and it felt like I had read a copy of the script. "They will say this, so you respond with that. Then they will say this and you will tell them that." It's a dance and they know all the steps. The buyer doesn't even know they are dancing.

I think in health care, the important thing is to get help to recover from whatever illness or injury you have. If the nurse is male or female is the least of your worries if the discomfort or pain is serious enough. Then you just want to be helped, regardless of who provides that help.

When it comes to social situations: gender roles are outdated. They have been created by people wishing to restrict their self-development. Any norms in fact, with the sole exception to treat others with respect, are like a cage restricting your movements. It hinders self development and for what reason? The idea that woman have to be/do ... and men have to be/do ... is totally insane when you look to it from a distance. Norms in general are not something I like, but gender roles are about the worst of norms. They serve no purpose at all.

The only differences between men and women are physical. Men cannot give birth to a child, women cannot conceive without the help of a male. But in terms of which job or role one has to do: do whatever you're comfortable with. All the rest is total bullocks in my opinion.

Went to my wife's annual employee awards diner Friday evening. She works at a local hospital that recently had their 100th anniversary. Their printed book listed all the people who had been there for 25 or more years. There are two ladies who have worked there for 47 years. Emotions and showing emotions are natural to human beings. The idea that men are tough at all times is just macho nonsense. We're as emotional as women, and we shouldn't be ashamed to show it neither. It's very normal.

Can't comment on basketball but I've been to thousands of soccer games and find women's soccer quite nice to watch. They aren't as physical of course, but they can have equally good technical skills and usually take fair play much more serious. In women's soccer you will not as often see diving and trying to fool the referee like some male players do all the time (Cristiano Ronaldo comes into mind)

Also, women can pee standing up. I've seen it with my own eyes on several adult sites which I only visited for research purposes
