Hey folks,
Wanted to start a discussion around something a showroom owner I know is dealing with on Hoshangabad Road, Bhopal — they get decent footfall on weekends but struggle with weekday walk-ins, especially from people who are literally driving past the area but just don't stop.
The idea they're exploring is running hyperlocal ads targeting people within a 3km radius of their showroom location. And the question is — does this actually work in practice, or is it more of a marketing pitch that agencies use to sell retainers?
From what I've looked into, here are the targeting options that seem relevant:
The showroom is in a mid-to-high footfall corridor so the audience isn't the problem — it's converting passive passersby into intentional visitors.
My questions for the community:
Curious to hear from people who've worked on local retail or automotive showroom campaigns especially — the intent-to-visit funnel feels very different from e-commerce and I'd love practical insights.
Thanks!

From what I've looked into, here are the targeting options that seem relevant:
- Google Ads Local Campaigns — uses Maps, Search, Display and YouTube together to drive store visits
- Meta Radius Targeting — allows ads to be shown to users within a custom radius (as tight as 1km in some regions)
- Google Maps Promoted Pins — shows a pin on Maps when someone is navigating nearby
- Geofencing Campaigns — triggers ads when a device enters a defined geographic boundary
- Call-to-action focus — "Get Directions" or "Visit Us Today" CTAs paired with local targeting

My questions for the community:
- Has anyone run or managed a sub-5km radius ad campaign for a physical retail location? What platform worked best — Google or Meta?
- Is there a minimum ad budget that makes hyperlocal campaigns worthwhile, or does it work even at ₹200–300/day?
- How do you actually measure walk-in attribution from digital ads — store visit conversions in Google Ads, or something else?
- Would a local advertising agency in a Tier-2 city realistically have the tools and expertise to execute this, or is it better handled independently?
