Its a written rule, but hey, rules are meant to be broken

yes but you always gamble by registering country domains unless you are of that country because for example china just made a couple new rules for .cn i forgot what they are though.

It's like finding a needle in a haystack.
Have you heard of anyone getting "caught"? No seriously, has anyone ever been caught?

Its never good to brake the rules in these cases cause someone maybe would report you or something ?

But hey everyone does it so if you want to gamble go ahead ;D

I live in Northern Ireland and own .us domains. One of them I registared myself at NameCheap.

Would this same rule apply for .co.uk domains then?

I live in canada...

I own

.ca, .us, .de, .co.uk, domains.

.de domains require the admin contact to be german...u can put the registrars...

.ca requires canadian presence...same as us....

When you registar a .co.uk domain you are sent a Registratant Notes form from Nominet.uk... You need to send this back to comfirm your domain name.

I can't remember, but can you put in an address outside of the UK when registering a .co.uk domain?

worst case scenario is you lose reg fee. I'm sure most registrars rather have you spend more $ then lose you.

I own .us domains. Well, technically my Delaware corporation owns the domains, which is good enough justification to own .us domains legally.

If you invest in a good a mount of valuable .us domains, it would be advisable to get a similar legal setup. Otherwise, anyone coveting your names can fire off a simple complaint to the registry and get your domain cancelled. Hasn't happened yet, but that's only because the .us namespace isn't very popular yet.

I don't see any problems with registering .us regardless of your nationality. Whenever I've reg'd .us it's been using the following criteria:
Category 3 - Bona Fide U.S. Presence
Regularly engages in lawful activities (sales of good or services or other business, commercial or non-commercial, including not-for-profit relations in the United States).
