.mobi Buying a .mobi with a "z" as the plural instead or "s"

Do you think it is good to buy a .mobi with a "z" as the plural instead or "s" if the one with the "s" is taken? For example, forumz.mobi?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I really don't. You could probably buy many of those are this point, but I think you would be wasting your money.

I would stay away from replacing s with z on domains in general... only for .com and then only if the domain gets a lot of traffic and you want to go for a typo domain OR create a brandable domain with the z.

This is not good domaining, there are plenty of "good" .mobi domains that are yet to be registered please don't waste you money on bad namez.

I agree 100%, this is still too early for the "z" trend and even later you better have a branding strategy for the name.

Exactly -- "loans" is a great keyword, but "loanz" is nothing more than a brandable name.

I agree 99%, as i think the only exception is if you already have a nice -z.com portfolio.

i still think names like forumz.mobi and loanz.mobi are better than a lot of the stuff people are regging right now. I bought 5 of these kind of names a while back just incase. Its worth the $150 investment to reg all of them for 2 years in my opinion. I have also had a $100 offer on just one of them that I declined. These are the ones I have:

Forumz.mobi
Loanz.mobi
Avatarz.mobi
Layoutz.mobi
Vlogz.mobi

I think they work well on .com's for branding .... but I See NO value at all in other extensions using it. <Dot>Com will always take traffic away from other extensions - especially on domains of this type - IMO.

and if someone owns the .com already and wants to develop their site they might want to buy the .mobi version off of the person who has it.

There's a chance of that - But just as big a chance that you may be infringing upon their TM/Brand .... and trying to sell to them in this case is mostly looked upon as "Bad Faith" in WIPO decisions.

None of those names are TMed. I could also TM them and then make the .com people give me their names too then right?

You need to remember one thing .... "Brands/Marks" do not have to show up at USPTO or in any other Country TM listing service to be protected. If any Individual ,Organization ,or Business has operated for any amount of time using the "Brand/Mark" ..... they probably already have rights to it. "NamePros" is a perfect example .... -RJ- has ran this site under this name for several years now. -RJ- (and now -db-) don't have to file it to be protected , It's assumed in most cases.

Most times this technique is used on seemingly "generic" terms - Just as yours are generic terms with "z" attached.

ClickZ.com and TrafficZ.com are the same way - Generic term with a "z" - But I'd bet Dollars to Doughnuts they are protected as their "Brands" - whether registered or not ;)

Let's have a race...

Potential TMs ending with a "Z" ???

Hey Camaro fans...

IROCZ.mobi

is unregistered as of this post, and Internet REIT has irocz.com.

If you win the registration race, come tell us, and throw me some Name Bucks for goodness sake... I'M NEARLY BROKE.

(Hey JasMate! Go get it... you're the only one with any NBs to even PAY me!!!)

B-)

IREIT may have the domain , But GM (General Motors) and the "IROC" could have a say on that if they so wished  IMO

Didn't they base an entire extension on Z?

I don't own any Z's, but if you think you can make something happen with one that's your biZ and go for it.

I remember seeing a TM dispute with Travelocity and someone that Z.comed one of their satellite companies. Travelocity won quick and easy and the company was made to turn the domain over to them.

well if you go and just replace the S with a Z of a TMed name then you would definitely lose the name quickly such as if you regged McDonaldz.com. Using a Z instead of an S on a generic word would be just like using the letters E or I before a generic word such as iPhone or ePoker.
