You dont really have to have a company name to buy or sell domains. You can do it privately on auctions, approaching end users, ads, etc. There are no advantages of using either because at the end of the day, its the domain name one has to buy and if they like the domain name and want the domain name than it would be of no relevance to whether you have a company or not.

I trade under my company name which allows me to deduct taxes (21% in The Netherlands). That's the only advantage i get from it.

So if there's no other advantage i'd recommend keeping them under your personal name, if you grow and want to start your own company you can always transfer them.

If you are making big ticket purchases and sales, then a registered corporation will be beneficial when it comes to taxes.

If your a newbie with only a few names, you don't need a company. If you are an experienced domainer with thousands of domains, you might consider using a company so that you can protect your personal assets, like your home, from any litigation.

I would say set up a company, because as stated above, for the taxes advantages and the protection of personal assets.

It would suck to lose everything you own for a domain you paid $7 for, so a company would be the way to go once you start getting into the game seriously, because you may register that questionable name one day, and get a very nice letter served to you.

Because this is a business for me, I use my company name and my personal name to register domains - if you use a company you still need a person's name.

I would only use a company name if you have a website for the company. Otherwise a purchaser might think you are less than legit.

If you dont want to pay for privacy with your domains, registering them under a company name is a good way to hide your identity.

thanx for all the information, i have been doing non-stop research and buying domains, i think I'm going to be doing some webdevelopment on some instead of parking them(using voodoo now for a newbie they are difficult to make sure your have everything set up to optimize your domains--10 domains and 2 clicks in a week? and all the ads don't match the domain) sorry for that ramble. so some of my sites will be used for affiliate marketing and others into blogs/webpage for sale etc. so i though having a company might be better than seeing an individuals name all over the place? and the legalities of making wrong purchase or? it would be nice to have the protection of a limited company.

thanx again for all the info

Dan

I have about 60 domains so far anyone interested in having a look to see if i have wasted a bunch of money pm or email me.
