Can't the guy do anything right?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon.../stories/040108dnmetlibraryname.1b2ba34c.html

While President Bush's advisers were taking offers on an ideal spot for his library and museum, they probably should have paid more attention to the virtual real-estate market.

Officials finally settled on Southern Methodist University in Dallas to house the $250 million complex.

But online, some of the very best addresses are gone โ€” snapped up for a mere fistful of dollars by squatters who have no connection to the library yet hope to make fun of the president, protect him or simply cash in on his name.

At one time, the Bush Library Foundation owned the easiest Web site to remember: www.GeorgeWBushLibrary.com.

But whether on purpose or because of an oversight โ€” foundation spokesman Taylor Griffin wasn't sure โ€” it lost that domain name last year. Illuminati Karate, a Web company in Raleigh, N.C., picked it up for less than $10.

Since then, offers have come in to buy it, although company officials won't say who or how much. And they're coy on what they plan to do with such a recognizable site.

"We're just holding onto it for the time being," said lead Web developer George Huger. "To be honest, I couldn't believe someone was letting it expire."

Having lost such an obvious choice, the foundation is hunting in other e-territories for accessible and memorable Internet brand.

The group has registered a few, such as GWBPresidentialLibrary.com, and is "looking at other options" before making a final decision, Mr. Griffin said.

Simply awesome.

I don't know if he knows what a library is anyway.

Well, look at what was offered up to replace him..... why were non-Americans surprised we re-elected him? The Dems spent the entire election cycle talking about Bush's reserve status 20 years before instead of any issues. Obama has a chance to beat the Republicans, but he needs to stop saying 'change, change, change" and start talking about specific items. If he does that, if he sticks to specific issues, he might make it.

I know almost zero about democratics and liberals, they are all the same to me but if I remember correctly was not the alternative a man who recently got a Nobel award (Al Gore)?

Al got dragged down by association with Bill Clinton. He had zero chance of pulling any republicans over at the time, because they were sick of the whole Clinton episode. Gore has remade himself, or at least shown the country an aspect of himself that has not really been seen in very many politicians lately, someone who might actually spend time focussing on our environment.

I would have liked to see him run for office this time, actually, I think his experiences over the last several years could have added a lot of intellect to the discussions.

Obama has a chance to pull over moderate republicans, and McCain has a chance to pull over moderate democrats, lol, so who knows where this will end up!

Still, I think it would have been nice to see Gore give it a try. He may still be trying to distance himself a bit, give it a little more time: he is still young.

Back to the topic at hand - I bet there are a lot of Presidential contenders who have not thought out their needs, domain-wise, whether it would be for a library or for more generic marketing.

In all fairness, the repubs spent the entire election cycle trying to tarnish Kerry's military career instead of talking about any issues.

Yeah, but they also talked about 911, which was of a slight advantage to them. I think the thing that I hate with elections is how politicians think they have to dumb down their campaigns in order to allow us little folk to understand them. Bush talked about Kerry waffling, Kerry talked about 'Where was Bush', Obama now says "change" in his sleep, and dems in general prognostic 'Say No To Bush III', etc. I haven't paid enough attention to McCain to see what his one liner will be - or perhaps he is holding back until a winner is declared on the dems side.

He's not the greatest president, but it's not his fault. He has nothing to do with that area.

Yes, in Australia you probably value politicians who are bright, thoughtful, forward-thinking, and truly care about people outside your country. Here we vote based on the important stuff like who will let us have the most guns, who will closely police love and marriage, and who will make sure its 70 degrees year-round in Alaska soon. But seriously, at least electing an oil man over a liberal democrat would ensure that the cost of oil and gas would stay low :|

Perfect topic for April Fools day.

It would be funny if not for the damage he has done. At least all three of the remaining candidates seem to have some inteligence.

I think he was attempting to find a working godaddy coupon.

I seriously doubt it's something that he was responsible for looking after. Ironic? Yes. But his fault? Doubtful.

So, would those three remaining you refer to be John McCain, Ron Paul, and Ralph Nader? :o
