Bulk registrant check

I keep my list of domain names in an excel spreadsheet and periodically want to clean the list of names I have allowed to lapse, which may either be now registered by someone else or not registered at all.

Is there any tool available please that will let me bulk check a list of domains and come back with the registrant name (not the registrar) so I can quickly check and clean my list as, at present, I am cleaning the list manually.

I was curious, so I checked around too. There isn't any bulk registrant checker that I'm aware of. Sounds like a good project for some Namepros member with too much time on their hands (not me!)

Is it not against the tos or use of Whois to abuse the search of registrants of domains
Such as bulk search ?
