Built it but no one comes

Like some say built it and the people will come.

Ive made my sites, submitted to directories ect. all that and I just do not get many visitors.

how do you guys do it with the 100+ users a day looking at your sites ect.

any advice would be highly appreciated.

Well the site is basically off a script that allows template customization. These scripts are called Content Management Systems and allow you to add edit or modify the content of your site without knowledge of html etc.


As far as site promotion is concerned. You have to be really patient. Add in the RIGHT and RELEVANT directories. Submit to search engines. Make the pages SEO friendly and basically, add to as many forum sigs as you can.

Well I read never to submit to search engines. I am listed in google, yahoo and msn last time I looked I might look into buying sig spaces.

yes, you are right. it could reduce your cost. otherwise, you might make some other incentive programe, like giving np$ to sign in to your site, posting to your site, or else.

join with many related forum, and make a post to promote your site but certainly dont broke the TOS.

The forum link idea is pretty good I might try that.

Its a arcade site so incentives to post comments are pretty useless.

I will try the sig link idea but I have to wait till I can buy some NP$

I get a good number of hits to my 1 month old site from my sig, and also use NP 'Pay for Clicks' system, which has done very well for me.
It is kind of a waiting game, but dont get doen about it, just keep submitting to good directories, and the traffic will come.
There are a good lot of traffic generation ideas in the Marketing forum also

The best advice what I could give you is to only advertise on sites
where people are already interested the service/product/information.

Like: it has no/to less use to advertise a Disney site on a website about Selling Warships (even if it has 100.000 hits a day)

it happens all the time. Even if there is traffic, you may still don't have the clicks. So be patient.

Getting traffic is the unending battle... the main thing it takes is time, in some cases lots of time.
