Being brave means being bold.......and thus innovative.

If you haven't heard by now, Brave browser partnered with Unstoppable Domains to launch the blockchain-based .brave TLD extension. Needless to say, certain domainers will likely say "Meh, blockchain domains don't resolve in browsers". The plot-twist here is Brave is its own web browser AND .brave domains, along with others, do in fact resolve. No plugins necessary by the way. A user can simply download their browser and begin searching web addresses including those ending in .brave. Frankly, it's a strong move and counters much of the criticism many conventional domainers could offer at this point.

But it doesn't stop there......

Per reports, Brave is set to submit an application in the upcoming 2026 ICANN GTLD round. For what extension? Of course, .brave. They're aiming to cover all basis by having the blockchain and centralized version of the TLD. Notice, blockchain was cited first. This is because Brave embraces the blockchain and crypto in a front-facing manner. Launching .brave in a decentralized capacity FIRST only reiterates their commitment to innovation and the future. It's actually quite refreshing. They aren't bound by the archaic guidelines and lethargic advancement in the centralized domain space. They've created their own ecosystem where the status-quo does not apply.

Brave, right?

Assuming ICANN approves Brave's application - which it doesn't matter if they don't - .brave will be among the first TLDs of its kind. It'll have a degree of prominence that supersedes .com because it's the browser's native extension. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know Brave will prioritize .brave domains - all the way down to its browser's search results. After all, that's what you do when you make the rules. Their browser offers a quality experience and their user-base is growing considerably. Partnerships with players like Unstoppable suggest they're willing to grow alongside entities/individuals that share a vision for tomorrow's internet landscape.

One could only expect there will soon be a facet of domaining exclusive to Brave's ecosystem. Are you in, or nah?

Brave browser's domaining system is on its way. Will it be comprised mostly of older or newly minted domainers? The sentiment suggests a bit of both. Are you in, or do plan to watch/listen?

Why would anyone chose to restrict themselves?

Maybe I'm shortsighted but I can't see a single reason for someone to chose a .brave web3 domain for anything.

People might be inclined to choose a .brave domain for the benefits/perks it comes with in the Brave ecosystem. It surely won't be for everyone; but will have its value in the eyes of those who feel Brave has worthwhile offerings. It's the same reason some people choose Chrome over Safari or Bing over Yahoo. It's about preference.

I did already but nothing new to me. I've been around for many years and watched all those alternative roots fail. I pass.
