As far as I can tell, the only benefit of BB over Atom is that BB sells names and Atom doesn't.

Do you feel like this has been like it recently or just as it is ?

Always! But it's only recently that we've jumped in with both feet at Atom. It's been almost a year though. We probably won't stick around for too much longer if something doesn't change!

With HostPapa acquiring Brandpa, will GoDaddy buy BrandBucket? They would then be able to offer curated names to their customers.

Brandbucket approvals are over a month and a half at this point. Insane.

Hello, does anyone know what is happening with the Afternic integration? I got an email purporting to be from brandbucket asking to delete all names from Afternic as there was a new Afternic integration going ahead.

Why not email BB and ask directly?

There is a benefit that they will market to their BB network if you delist your self-listed names at Afternic and let them list them (which they do through Dan, even though it is shuttered). Not sure if this is the reason you got this email

I am looking for an alternative marketing platform for brandable names that are not approved in Atom. But I noticed that there has been no interest in this thread for a while.

What is the latest situation on BrandBucket?

I would be pleased if anyone would like to share information about the recent sales rates, waiting process for approval and other details.

Currently 40-45 days for approvals.
Sales aren't announced at BB, but my sales have been non-existent over the past 18 mos. BB has worked for me in the past however.
They have a Slack channel where sellers can self-announce. Barely anyone has recently. Disconcerting, but self-reporting does not prove causality.
Note: BB mandates full exclusivity now (so no cross marketing on Afternic). Will result in ~25% less sales (based on reports of large BB sellers saying they get ~25% of their BB listings sold on Afternic). However, if you're only listing Atom brandable rejects, then no harm I suppose.

Personally, I'm still hopeful BB can turn things around. But it's getting tougher and tougher to defend this position. Perhaps they'll start announcing sales in some way to provide confidence in their platform once more. Their silence is deafening.

Their silence is deafening.

Thank you for detailed inside view.

Considering that you have been in this sector for a long time and have a balanced portfolio, 18 months with zero sale is quite concerning for me.

My brandable names never be successful on Afternic side, so BrandBucket or any other known branding market will be much more suitable.

Hope this is the calm before the storm.

May I ask the holding/listing period of that sold name?

Frankly, I’m totally okay for waiting the payment as long as there’s a sale. Some late money is way much better than no money.

My BB portfolio is not very large, only ~150 names. As such, it is to be expected that my BB sales have quiet periods. I have found BB sells certain types of names and not others. There is a learning curve to identify which ones their buyers lean towards. Interestingly my Atom sales buy similar types of names (so perhaps it's not as much their buyers as it is brandable buyers or the fact my folio leans towards these types of names). Oftentimes the answer is a little of everything.

Overall I like, but do not love, BB. My STR is sub 1% over the 11 yrs but the sale price makes them tenable, not spectacular. That is why I have been testing Atom - to see if STR was higher. My STR at Atom is 1.25% (better, but not high). Sale prices are lower however - so net the platforms are similar to my bottom line at the moment.

My overall folio STR over the years off brandable platforms is much higher than on them. Sadly, in the past year Afternic has dropped off a cliff. I don't know what Afternic changed, but it is not helpful for my folio STR which leaves me ever more dependent on BB and Atom (not a great thing since they collectively come in at an ~1% STR, which is less than half my historic STR).

I have recently attempted to improve the quality of my brandables - so over the next 3-5 years we'll see how I did.

I am hearing this name first time. May be it is because I did not do any startup! Anyhow, best of luck to Brandbucket team. Their success is our success too.

All their names are priced at $1,995?
Yes, it seems like it. And they are all owned by the founders of Novanym. So I am not sure how BrandBucket will integrate seller-owned names with them.
