Epik has been developing a series of new platforms including Anonymize.com, Armored.net, Us.Tv, Watchmask.com, and more on the way.

Recently, Epik has been developing an Anonymous Smart Search aggregator. This new brand is intended to power an alternative to Google.com, Bing.com and DuckDuckGo as a domainer-friendly and censorship-light search engine. You can see a preview here. We have also been inviting name suggestions here.

This is a poll of a reduced set of submitted candidates to screen for the top-4 to be poll-tested outside of NamePros to select the finalist.

Think techie, vote unicrawl! :xf.wink:

But really, based on domainer votes, it looks like it comes down to toki for a madeup word, or searchit for something more descriptive. Decrawl is great if the focus was only decentralized indexing, but it was mentioned this needs to accomplish both regular search and blockchain which is why I put unicrawl / unicrawler in the mix! It might sound a bit tech-ish but plenty of engines use "crawler" to identify themselves, google is just so big no one hears much about them. WebCrawler and metacrawler.com were among some of the earliest search engines on the web. Now we have the likes of KinCrawler.com for genealogy, newzcrawler.com for a news aggregator, craftcrawler.com for craft brewery searching etc.. etc..

Curious to see the results and if a winner is chosen this time, it is certainly no easy task taking on the likes of google for broad search!

I went with Incogne.com

I think Toki and search it and search cow are all better names in general but not for the purpose at hand.

Uni crawl kind of conflicts with uni aka Uniregistry and all their services, and platform?

Lots of great names,
As echoed above maybe not all are the best choice for the concept at hand, but definitely have end user value.

That would be logical, yes. Another example: quiet. And when I write "as", I mean similar to, i.e. replace "d" sound with "s" sound.
I still don't get how Siet is pronounced like Diet. In what language?

On (2), the theme is really centered around knowledge empowerment. If you give people the opportunity to search without fear of surveillance, and with the option of getting all the answers, you empower them to find truth. The higher order benefit of this project is knowledge, wisdom and truth.

It's an unviable naming process. All you have to do is create a new listing/poll. Making sense of a confusing suggested word/s (domain names) haven’t taken us on the required journey. Centripetal or Centrifugal?

Regards

I just typed the word 'Branding' in toki and then filtered the results to see the last 1 month updated data then exported it to csv format, opened it in ms-excel and alas! I now have latest top 26 unbiased resource to refer including some videos on the topic of 'Branding'. Thanks rob.

“Brand name testing” thing is pure genius. Makes us stakeholders, feel like actual shareholders, least me.(Yes I know you’re privately held. lol) Although l am disappointed with these results (SearchIt finished #1 with 60 votes, 38 Toki, and I didnt even get to vote!) Toki isn't bad, my #2 choice.

if you didnt need a reason to join NP, already. ;)

Good stuff. Hope you have more “Brand testing,” — really cool. Thanks!! I’ll prob never own Epik shares, but stuff like this, it really makes me feel, like I do :)

Now, That’s what I’m talking about!!!

Again, I wanted “SearchIt”, late to party but love this.
More ways, Epik shows, it cares about its customers have say in upcoming product (OK, name) cool!

It should be Potoki to be “currents” in russian

How fluent are you in Russian?

Toki and Potoki are different types of "currents", if you understand the nuances.

I don't want to go offtopic, but this is rather an unusual usage of this word, like let's say "silences" in English

https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Вихревые_токи

This discussion is for the sake of argument only, obviously. Something like - "This apple is large" - "No, it is green".

You got to understand that in reference to electricity, "potoki" is not used, only "tok" or "toki", when plural is required, like in the above term from wikipedia.

Toki stands out...brandable, short, memorable, pass radio test.

Then Decrawl... it passes the message of the brand instantly. A more privacy friendly alternative to Google & others.

Toki kind of makes me think of some kind of weed search engine.

I think emphasis should be put on portion of search and anonymous. The search game
is a tough one, a catchy brand will certainly help.
it kinda sounds "rebellious" to me. And I guess that is cool considering the brand is "going against" some things we don't like about Google.

With a good marketing push, Toki could become known - but there are others already using the name, from Japanese whiskey and restaurants to a game on Nintendo Switch.

I don't think companies using should be an issue if it is not trademarked. There are "Googles" before GOOGLE.

Searchit.com is owned by godaddy / namefind

Would have been expensive purchase probably. Toki.com is a nice name. I agree with @bmugford that it feels a little like "some kind of weed search engine."

Searchit.com they want a min offer of $32.5K, but I can't imagine toki.com is cheap either, in korean tokki means rabbit, which could mean fast.

I like Toki, for the simplicity. It’s grown on me.
