Yikes, what awful work! :O

Let's play a game: next person to discover more official BP images that have been poorly Photoshopped wins! :snaphappy:

The bottom right corner of this one looks a little sketchy to me, but maybe I'm just looking too hard... ;)

This is why I really don't believe in conspiracy theories. Humans either make mistakes and get noticed or there are whistleblowers. We live in a world where all information is scrutinized and whistle blowers can become rich and famous. There isn't a lot of incentive to allow a conspiracy to exist.

What happens is when you send a photo to your web guy he looks at it and say "hey there 3 blank screens, it will look more pleasing to have them filled" Why? because he's a web guy not a news reporter.

The first thing you might notice out of place is the looming air traffic control tower in the upper left hand side of the photo:

You'd think BP could at least hire someone who's a little better with Photoshop.

From: BP acknowledges another altered photo, posts originals - CNN.com

BP said on Wednesday that the screens were altered to "enhance the quality of the photo," and that the photographer had no intention to mislead anybody.

But he said Thursday that in the case of the engineers' photo, the photographer never meant for the alterations to be published.

The photographer pasted scenes into some blank screens just to demonstrate Photoshop techniques to colleagues, according to Dean.

"He told me he was simply showing colleagues how easy it would be to fill in the screens, and he inadvertently left it in that condition," Dean said.

You'd think they could at least keep their excuses consistent... they don't need any more bad publicity :o

Yet I bet neither of you have been on an onshore or especially an offshore rig to know how these 'monsters' of metal work and break.

My experience on a land based rig...
If the driller pushes too hard on the gears or pushes to hard on the brake you can twist off a pipe, crack the pipe, et cetera. The mud is mixed wrong many different things can happen. Humans make errors; although the BP spill had a greater consequence from this error(s) doesn't mean you can just go and say the driller, tool pusher, derrick hand, floor hands, and others involved didn't know how to do their job.
